To Baby-Baby, my mainecoon.
On January 7th, 2001, the feline who inspired my very own immortal name - Mainecoon - died of cancer. He was my closest companion and confidant for over 12 years. Whether the members of this household called him Shangelana ["little lion"], Baba Ganoush, Sniffers, Kit-Kat, or just "hey you", he was a good friend to all. I will miss him dearly.
I'll miss you like the wind misses a whisper, I'll miss you like a sob misses a sigh, I'll miss you like the rain misses a window, I'll miss you like the sea misses the sky. Your tower is beyond the dim horizon. It's too far off for me to see just where. Be patient, my elusive sleeping beauty. Some day my death will come and take me there. I'll find you like a lover finds a soulmate, I'll find you like a garden finds the rain, I'll find you like a riddle finds an answer, I'll find you like you were before the pain. Together we will measure days in footsteps, A universe for you and me alone. Together we will build endless tomorrows, Together in our true and holy home. Yet still I wonder, as you move to leave me, Where are we in life's vast Eternity? Were you asleep, and am I only dreaming? Is Death the only real reality?
