My name is Sonja Sun (Sunny) Johnsen, Korea birthname Park Young-Joo.
I was born in South Korea in 1975.
In 1977 I was adopted to family in Norway, while my brother was adopted to a family in Michigan, US.
In 1999 I returned to Korea for the first time, and after visiting my orphanage and doing some research, I was able to find the true story behind my adoption.
In 2000, after further research and using Korean media, I found my birthfamily and was reunited with my parents and younger sister (born after our adoption). Later I was able to make contact with my brother as well.
In 2001 all 3 siblings finally met.
Growing up feeling as an outsider both in Norwegian and Korean society lead me to question who I was and where I came from. Even after finding my birthfamily I feel like I don't really belong anywhere. This lead me to looking deeper into my own identity as "an egg in a banana-skin".
