Hometown Info

Information About my Hometown
I am a 21 year old college student at Kent State University.  I Came from Central Ohio.  To be exact I was raised in the quaint town of Newark, Ohio nestled in the rolling hills of Licking County.  Go Wildcats!  I went to the only high school in the state of Ohio that was build in a college campus style.  Newark High Schools population is 2,300 students.  I was a member of the French Exchange program, in marching and symphonic bands and also was executive member in the Newark High School Chapter of the National Honor Society.  It is also home to the Pride of Newark Marching and Symphonic Band.  The Pride of Newark Marching Band is the only other band that has been rated Superior 20 consecutive times in OMEA Marching Band State Finals.  Other interesting things that we have in Newark are the Longaberger Basket Building, Velvet Ice Cream, and Heisey Glass Company.  Some places of interest to check out are Weathervane Playhouse, Flint Ridge, and Dawes Arboretum.

Information About Licking County
Licking County
     4-H Band
"A Band of Legacy and Friendship"
Licking county is home to the only 4-H band in Ohio.  It was founded by Mac and Cork in a little town outside of Newark called Toboso.  The Licking County 4-H Band has kids from every corner of Licking County from 11-19 years of age.  They start practicing the first wed. of March and meet every wed. after.  Around the begining of June they Go to Camp Ohio and practice everyday for a week.  They learn over 110 pieces of music and will play all of them throughout the season.  They play for nursing homes, parades and socials in all the towns in Licking County.  Pataskala, Granville, Newark, Dresden and many other towns are on their list of concerts to play.  They also Entertain at the Hartford Fair. One thing that sets the Licking County 4-H Band ahead of all the bands is it friendships that will last forever.  I have very fond memories of the friendships I made there.  I was the vice president of the Licking County 4-H Band during the 50th year of its existence.  I also represent the band as Third runner up Hartford Fair King.  I remember a quote from Chris Baker that went something like this "School friends will come and go but 4-H band friends will last a lifetime".

Information About the French Trips of 1998-1999
Well I have been to France two times and believe me it was worth it.  I stayed in a house with a French family and enjoyed the culture.  I wish I could live in that culture all my life.  The family I stayed with was the Maxwell family.  I miss you Kevin, Enora, and Franck.  The Champs Elysees was where the best shopping was.  The prettiest part of France is the Loire Valley and all the Castles that lie on it's rolling country side.  The best drink is malibu and orange juice.  The quaintest town is Fosses, France.  If you get a chance to visit Fosses take a trip a little further and go to the karaoke pub and castle of Chantilly.  I also got a chance to visit all the torist attractions in Paris and Even got to see where the Versailles treaty was signed.  Paris is where I left my heart.  Where the trees line the Champs Elysees and lights go by so fast.  My heart lies in the city, the city of Lights and Love.
