| The County Courthouse was built in 1876 in a Victorian Style. It is at the center of Newark, Ohio. In the summer beneath the trees of this square bands such as the Licking County 4-H Band fills the air with beautiful music. The Strawberry festival encompasses it and "Light the Night" car show draws the crowd downtown. In the winter our town awaits the lighting of this beautiful building. Santa arrives and soon the decorations are lite for the month, while all the children can't wait to see what will be beneath their christmas trees. Before this work of art stood other structures such as cabins for a courthouse, but the curse of fire burnt them down. History happened on the lawn of this courthouse with hangings and rallies. Three story buildings surround it and those buildings give the town of Newark it's special flare. |
