Both squads played with vigor throughout the entire match even though they faced harsh and unpleasant weather conditions. KMCC Comes from Behind to Rout St. Marys
What looked to be a low scoring match in the first half became anything but as KMCC/SEAS Utd. showed why they sit atop of the league. Nam Kyu Kim scored as the St. Marys offense slipped past KMCCs defense in the middle of the first half. KMCCs defense looked shaky in the first but soon came together and did not allow another goal for the rest of the match. Down 1-0 heading into the second half, KMCC capitalized on a flurry of fast-breaks. Nathan Tadaro scored early in the second half with the equalizer. Both sides battled it out in the mid field for possession of the ball; he has scored in every match this season. Fabio of KMCC scored what ended up being the game winner halfway through the second half. St. Marys failed to take advantage of their own fast breaks as a few shots barely missed becoming goals. KMCCs Chris Yoon capped off KMCCs comeback win with a bloop shot over St. Marys goalie John Kim. The match further distances KMCC from the rest of the league with their fourth straight victory.

Tables turn as St. Marys defeat the Mighty Sung Sam
It turns out that the game was unfortunate for both sides due to the officials of the game. Both halves of the game had unfair calls, late reactions, and careless errors during the match. It was unfortunate for Sung Sam F.C to have lost such a crucial game after preparing the team mentally and physically. However the results of the game were upsetting and unfair for both teams. Captain (St. Thomas F.C.) / Referee Peter Yun replied after the match, I have to say, that this game was a learning experience for all of us, the refs the teams, and the fans, that any sport you play there are going to be mistakes made and things said that not everyone will agree with. However, this game brought out the true meaning of soccer- that no matter how much aggression the game brings about, in the end it's the love and fellowship within the game that makes it all worthwhile." Both teams had a great game, played hard and made the most spectacular goals! Goals by Dennis Kim (Sung Sam F.C) and Chris Nam Kyu Kim (St. Marys F.C.) show what soccer is all about, from a hat trick hero, to a soaring 20-yard free kick. Other goals were amazing, an awesome rebound shot, with a sailing penalty kick to top it off. The competition is not over yet folks! Watch out for the upcoming match on Sunday between Kmcc/Seas United and St. Thomas F.C, where they will battle it out for 1st place.

Close Match Gets Heated
For most of the first half, the defenses controlled the game as neither KMCC/SEAS Utd. nor St. Thomas FC could not get many shots on goal. Both defenses did an excellent job of clearing the ball and forcing the opposing players to the sidelines as the first half ended in a 0-0 tie. The urgency to score became more evident as both KMCC and St. Thomas inched closer and closer to the goals with each consecutive drive. A rather timid game turned heated as KMCCs Chris Yoon and St. Thomas Albert Song collided as both were going for a high ball. During injury time, as both teams were concerned with their players health, words were exchanged with yellow cards being handed out to both sides. Referee Fabian Kwak later commented that yellow cards had to be given out or the match could have turned very dirty. The only goal of the night came from KMCCs Nathan Tadaro who scored off a penalty kick halfway through the second half. KMCCs victory leaves them undefeated in league play while dropping St. Thomas to 1-2. The match could have gone either way as both teams played well. In the end, we realized that however great our intentions are for playing this sport, tensions can run high during a match. We just have to remind ourselves that after words are said, fouls are given, and tempers are heated, we can not lose sight of the fact we are all brothers and sisters in Christ and soccer is just a game.
