Oct. 2005 Hi, I'm Kendra "Kackie" L. Saunders! I can remember in first grade, instead of dressing up as monsters or movie characters, we were told to dress up as what we wanted to be when we grew up. I came to school wearing a sort of business suit and carried my dad's briefcase. I wanted to be an author.
I can also remember seeing a shack on the side of the road when I was seven, and then grabbing some paper and a pencil and jotting down my first fiction story, called "The Butterfly Princess." My parents were so shocked by it that they grilled me about it for hours, even days, asking where I had gotten the idea. I guess they couldn't believe I had written it myself. But I had, and a love of writing was born. I read almost everything I could get my hands on, and was reading YA novels when I was in fourth grade. I had been telling stories since even before writing them, though, and loved movies. It was easy for me to know I was meant to be a storyteller.
I travel a lot (at this writing, in fact, I'm in a motel room in Utah). I love meeting people, talking to them, watching them and especially, turning around and writing about them. I love to read, and love to watch movies. Concepts like time travel are some of my favorite things to mull over in fiction. I read a lot about actors and how they get into character; writers do the same thing when they create a character, and it is a helpful mindset to have. I come from a large family, and have friends scattered all over the United States. All of this has really come in handy during my writing career so far.
I listen to music almost all the time. Music is the most beautiful, wonderful form of art (besides drawing) that I absolutely could never do myself (can't even read musical notes!) but love even more dearly because of it. Besides owning about thirty-five movie soundtracks (and counting!) including such movies as "Dear Frankie," "Dinosaur," "Xanadu," "Captain Corelli's Mandolin," and the absolute must-have (one of my favorites!) Academy Award Winning "Finding Neverland", I am known to spin Keith Urban almost constantly. And dance to his music. And cry from the sad songs. Laugh at the funny ones. Smile at the ironic ones. And always, always, always feel inspired. (Not just by how good he looks in jeans). I love Enya's poetic, other-worldly music... I can listen to it and relax, or feel energized but always inspired. And my very favorite movie soundtrack, which isn't included in the above list, because it's so much more... "The Phantom of the Opera." This is such a beautiful story, such beautiful music and characters... and listening to Gerard Butler sing "Music of The Night" would send anyone into an inspired dream state.
I am working on projects constantly, mostly novels, and always looking for new ideas as well as getting some of the older ones published. I love my online readers and my closest two "real world" friends, Bekah "Brain" and Ashley. I have been the most excited about getting online and sharing more of my newest work, whatever it is...
Thanks for stopping by and please keep reading! --Kackie |

Rebekah L. Brown Rebekah Brown was born in upstate New York in 1986. She is the daughter of a Baptist Pastor, and has lived in New York and New Hampshire, and attends Clearwater Christian College in Florida. She has become quite a globe-trotter since becoming friends with Kendra. She's visited Wisconsin and Idaho and a lot of states inbetween, and been all up and down the East coast. Bekah has been a big reader since she was barely more than a toddler. In the elementary school years, she had already read the Lord of the Rings series several times. Bekah loves high fantasy and some magic realism, so she tried to bring a lot of that to this book. |
