Do you need a drive license?

 

I.  If you want to get a NJ Drive License (http://www.state.nj.us/mvs/)
 1.  You need Passport, I-94 card, I-20, International Drive License, Korean Drive License, and address in NJ.

  

 2.  You don't have to take road test but only paper test.

  

 3.. What kinds of test?
   a. EYESIGHT CHECK. The eyesight screening is required for all drivers. MVS may refer applicants with impaired vision to a physician.
   b. WRITTEN TEST. The written test consists of 30 questions plus a survey question about the Anatomical Gift Act. MVS gives the written test in English and these foreign languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Rumanian, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese. If you cannot read in any language, you may arrange to have an oral test that is conducted in English or Spanish.
  

4. If you want to take English exam

5. If you want to take Korean exam (If you have to use public transportation, I have no idea about that. Please ask help to People in NJ)
  a. Lodi MVS
        Address:   8 Mill Street, off Garibaldi Lodi, NJ 07644
        Direction:   Rt. 3 to Rt. 17 North to Summit Ave., Hackensack Ave. exit. Go off exit to
                            the end, Summit Ave. Make a left turn onto Summit Ave. and go to the first
                            traffic lights, Garibaldi Ave. Make a right turn onto Garibaldi Ave. Proceed
                            down to the first block past the railroad tracks, Mill St. Make a right turn onto
                            Mill St. The agency entrance is one block up on the left side.
  b. North Bergen MVS
        Address:    8901 Park Plaza  90th & Bergenline Avenue North Bergen, NJ 07047
        Direction:   Rt. 17 to Rt. 3 East to the Kennedy Boulevard exit. Proceed off exit and
                            follow along to 85th Street. Make a right turn onto 85th St. and follow to
                            Bergenline Ave. Make a left turn onto Bergenline Ave. The agency entrance
                            is on the left at Park Plaza.

  

6. Attention: 
Sometimes, MVS doesn't allow you to take Korean Exam without reasons. Moreover, Lodi can ask you to show your Social Security Number or a Letter from Social Security Office.  If you are requested to show the Letter from Social Security office, visit any nearby Social Security Office and just tell officers to need a notice that you are not qualified to get Social Security Number but you want to take Drive License. They will give you a letter immediately.

8. How long?
 -> If you arrive at MVS in the morning, it takes 5 hours to get your Drive License.

II.  If you want NY Drive License?
Sorry, I don't know how to do. But you have to take paper test and road test.
