1-4, 1-5
1-6, 1-7

1-1

Scope: To create a listing of links to various websites featuring soft drinks.

Steps: Opened a blank document, then opened the Page Properties option. Added the title 'Soft Drink Links', changed the color of the background to light orange, changed the color of the text to dark purple, the color of the links to medium blue, and the color of the visited links to dark red. I then added the title to the top of the page in Header 1 format, followed by an unordered list of the soft drinks. The completed page is here.

1-2, 1-3

Scope: To create an online announcement about a Halloween party.

Steps: Began by choosing a color scheme different from the instructions provided in the book, choosing baby blue for the background and keeping black as the text. I then entered the text in the indicated headings, as well as an email link at the bottom of the page. The result was this. Then, as per the instructions for the next segment, I changed the color of the background to black, the color of the text to orange, the link color to light blue, and the visited link color to light yellow. I then changed the appropriate lines of text by increasing their size +6. This is the final result.

1-4, 1-5

Scope: To create a list of links to famous people.

Steps: Started by adding a title, then used the Set Color Scheme command to choose automatically a set of colors for this particular webpage. After choosing the selected scheme. Then, I entered the text as indicated, followed by a listing of each famous person. Linked to their names were their (mock) email addresses, shown here. I then changed the heading at the top of the page so that it would appear on two lines, changed the formatting on the links by selecting them and changing their properties, then changed the color scheme from the toolbar command. Finally, I selected all of the links and, by clicking on the Unordered List item, rearranged them into an unordered list. The final result is here.

1-6, 1-7

Scope: To redesign the above project.

Materials provided:

The title image
the background image

Steps: Starting with a fresh document, I proceeded to give it the indicated title. I then changed the orientation of the page to centered, and inserted the title image. I then used Set Color Scheme to automatically choose a preferable design for this page. For organizational purposes, I then created a table of two columns with two rows, and proceeded to place the links to the stars used in the above project, modifying the names as indicated in the text. The results of that portion of the project are here. After that, I changed the background image in the Page Properties option to the background image provided. Then, I placed a link via the title image to a webpage offsite. The final result is here.
