ROGELIO C. PEYUAN (1958- )
ONE OF the six representatives of the youth sector in
the Batasang Pambansa, Rogelio C. Peyuan, the pride of Cavite City, was the
“Benjamin” of the lawmaking body of the Fourth Republic. Born on September 4,
1958, he was barely 20 years old at the time of his election on April 27, 1978.
The son of Romulo V. Peyuan and the former Norma R.
Castillo of Cavite City, Rogelio was graduated with honors from the Ladislao
Elementary School in 1970, and from the Cavite National High School in 1974. He
obtained his B.S. in Commerce degree, major in management, from the San
Sebastian College Recoletos, Cavite City; finished a course in the Rizal
Technological Colleges, Pasig, Metro Manila; and another course in keypunching
and computer programming in the manila Data School. A civil service eligible,
he passed the sub-professional exam in 1971, and the professional examination
in 1978.
Among the numerous important positions held by Peyuan
since graduation are the following: PRO, Rural Information Council; chairman,
Kabataang Barangay No. 26; director, association Of Barangay Councils;
secretary, Regional Federation of Kabataang Barangays; president, City
Federation of Kabataang Barangays; member, Sangguniang Panlunsod of Cavite
City; delegate to the people’s Republic of China, chairman of the Philippine
Delegation to the Conference of Policy Youth Making Executives of Asia-Pacific
in Bangkok, Thailand; lecturer, Civil service Commission; member, Cavite
Advisory Council; director, Philippine Council for World Freedom; National
Coordinator for Political Affairs; and delegate to the 30th Council
Meeting of the Asia Pacific Parliamentarians’ Union held in Taipeh, Taiwan.
In the Batasang Pambansa Peyuan was the chairman of
the sub-committee on youth development; vice chairman, committee on youth sport
development; and member, committees on appropriations and on finance; and of
steering committee; and member, sub-committees on customs; on internal revenue;
and on securities and exchange.
Peyuan is also active in civic, religious, and school
organizations.
