The Second Flood, Frankenstein Style!
Is there an icon for torrential downpour? There should be. Actually it was lovely and sunny today, but YESTERDAY, hooah! We walked home from Princes Street and by the time I dragged myself up to my room, my jeans weighed a good ten pounds. Bastard rain!
So we took Bekah out for one last Hazzah! before sending her off to Spain last night, and that was...an adventure. We went to Frankensteins, because as I've mentioned before, I'm a big fan of the atmosphere there. I made chummy with the cute bartender, so we got the alcohol in our pitchers doubled free of cost. Alright! Bekah also attracted the attention (unwanted, I might add) of some gentleman on the floor below us, and had her first experience dealing with drunken come-ons. Hilarous. Now to cheat and add a few days. Right well its actually the 9th now, so I better get some updating done. Ash came up to stay this weekend too, which was a royal sendoff, since he deploys for Africa in a week. Lesigh. So he comes up here and we went out for a nice dinner on the mile, to be followed with more craziness at Frankensteins, when it started snowing. Ok, not just snowing...it was christmas magic movie snow. Giant puffy snowflakes, swirling around the ancient buildings like a snowglobe, piling up in the streets and completely soaking everything (and everyone!) People were having fun, sledding in the streets, throwing snowballs, it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
Ash and I also headed up to Loch Lomond, but by the time we got there it was too dark for pictures, which is sad. I have to get back up there- it was like standing at the shores of Horsetooth from my childhood. The Loch is just north of Glasgow, and is the largest freshwater body in the UK. The Loch is entirely surrounded by trees, and the mountains rose up, cold and majestic with their white caps, all around us. The loch was so still, and clear, that it mirrored the periwinkle sky. The wind was so cold it made my nose hurt, and so absolutely crisp the sounds carried across the loch. Absolutely gorgeous.
Otherwise, its been a tame couple of days. I absolutely aced my Art Presentation, which was regarding a painting by Gavin Hamilton called Achilles Lamenting the Death of Patroclus. So you can imagine why I was interested in the painting...yahoo mythology about me! Wow, I'm egocentric tonight. Cassiocentric, even. Hah. Back to the tameness...I've been surviving through classes (they're still kinda boring) and trying really hard not to worry about all the other things that I tend to worry about. I hear a lot of my soldier heroes are on their way home, and I'm sorry I can't be there to welcome them at the airport, but it will be so wonderful to think of them back home and safe...three cheers, all you civilian readers! They're long overdue. So I hear this log is being widespread, including among Highlands Ranch High School and Sand Creek Elementary School. If I had any idea, I'd have updated more often! (and cleaned up the language...) But I do have one question...why don't you sign the guestbook?! Please, please, PLEASE sign it, I love to know people are listening to me ramble :).
