| *Beggarman - Darrell was in good voice but just couldn't seem to remember the words. He sang the third verse twice, skipped the first half of the second verse singing instead the third verse again. Eventually wound up on the last verse. Sang that one and a half times. What a night! The other guys were smiling and just kept playing. After the song Darrell just laughed. Speaking of Darrell. He was just dancing up a storm, groovin' to the music. He is so much fun to watch! *A new Tunez - GO BOB! *I'm a Rover - Alan does the usual "All the women lock your windows...cheer if he gets access to the lady's private quarters...they join in perfect union." Sean gives him a look and says, "It's going to be a long night." *Fast As I Can *Jack Hicks - very vertical *Mari Mac - Boy, everyone certainly knew what to reply to San's question, but it took two times to get it out right. I have never heard it so fast! Definitely faster than in Boston on Friday. *Ordinary Day - this was the last song of the evening (yeah, right!) *****************Encore******************* *Ode To Joy/End of the World - I love how they fit together perfectly. *Excursion - GO DARRELL *Auntie Mary Alan announces that they have been told there's a curfew at the club at 11:00PM. Everyone boos and protests, so he says they will do a couple more and and he'll make sure that we are not held responsible for violating curfew. ****************Encore******************* *Rant and Roar - about half of it. *Jakey - Awright!!!! Darrell gets three songs tonight!!! They extended it with the ...to Americay... stuff, nice and loud, not like on the CD. Much better. He leaves the stage with two, three, four, take a Philly Cheesesteak out the door! After the show, they chased us out and Shelly, Stacy and Kim were wrestling with the idea of hanging around, not wanting to appear like stalkers. We told them never fear, we'd join the stalking party. We hung out front for a while and then went to the backstage door. They debated about whether to go ask someone if the band had left. We didn't think so because the van was there still. So my daughter Karen (the shy one) bounces off to the stage door to ask the security guard but it's Dan from the Pushstars at the door. Then all of a sudden it's San and Alan at the door too. Kimsan got his VA license plate - GR8BIGC -signed by the elusive San, we took pictures, and I was so excited to meet San that I totally forgot I had all this other stuff he could have signed. Oh well, there will just have to be another time. YES!!! I did get them both to sign our Official Philly Kitchen Party poster. Addenda to the show As my not-so-shy-daughter, Karen, and I were happily recounting the events of the past week, she helped me remember some stuff I didn't include in my review. * When Alan sang Can't Stop Fallin' he sang these words: "She told me she was born a Libra, I told her I was Gemini, I lied!" * When San was singing and Bob had his fiddle solo in Im a Rover, Alan couldn't stand the thought that no one was looking at him, I guess, and he began to strike these Incredible Hulk poses at the front of the stage! * At some point, Darrell, Alan and San all switched places for a song. It was Alan, San, Darrell, then Bob (who was tethered to the accordian) * We had made a sign that said "Official Philly Kitchen Party" and Alan acknowledged it right before Goin' Up. "As the sign indicates, this IS the Official Philly Kitchen Party." * I actually heard Bob speak other than to introduce Alan. He yelled into the mike as they left after the final encore, "Thank you, Philly. Goodnight!" * and some not so hot news - when I asked Alan when they'd be back in Philly, perhaps for the Philadelphia Folk Festival? Alan said No, because Tonder is the same week and they didn't go to Tonder last year so they could be in Philly. So this year it's Tonder and not Philly. :o( Oh - on a weirder note, as I was driving down the road the other day, a TURN sign fell off the pole. I took it as a sign from a higher authority, so I drove back, Karen snatched it (those things are heavy!!!) and brought it home. Vic says it's going to be my version of Kim's license plate. I really don't know how we'd lug it around to concerts with us, but now i'm thinking...Maybe I could get ALL of them to sign it! |
