San really stepped in and was great doing a lot of the talking tonight. That really gave Alan a chance to save his voice for singing. I don't ever think I've heard Sean talk more during a show. He seemed at ease with the emcee task and was extremely dancey all evening. He was a joy to watch. In fact, they all seemed genuinely thrilled to be on stage performing for us.
Afterwards, we waited around to see if they might come out.No luck! But - I have one comment to make - Newfoundlanders certainly know how to have a good time! They played Newfoundland/Irish music on the radio after the band left the stage and all the Newfoundlanders/NovaScotians just danced all over the floor. It was great to see so many people continue the good feelings of the b'ys after the concert. What fun! The b'ys never did come out while we were there, and we stayed till 1:30 AM. Alan appeared at the dressing room door and waved to us but didn't come any further. But we really didn't expect HIM to appear since he'd been ill. Karen talked to Danny for a while who said Alan kept saying he could handle Philly till they did sound check, then it was obvious he could not, so that's when they cancelled. So it turns out it probably WAS Bob that I saw on stage in Philly, after all. I am relieved to know I was not hallucinating - I was Hallettcinating - HA HA! |
