SAMWISE GAMGEE: Gardener of Bag End and Friend to Frodo. A quiet, simple and extremely, loyal hobbit. His father, the Gaffer, worked as Bilbo's Gardener at Bag End and when his father retired, he took over as caretaker. Sam was the only member of the Fellowship that stayed with Frodo and was instrumental in getting him to Mount Doom. He was later referred to in Legend as Samwise the Brave. He eventually returned to the Shire and married his Rosie Cotton and had thirteen children. Including Frodo Gardener, who would inherit Bag End from his father. Sam was heartbroken when Frodo eventually went over the Sea, leaving him the Red Book to complete. However Legend also tells that sixty years later, after the death of Rosie and because he too carried The Ring(briefly), he was allowed to pass into the west and was reunited with his friend,Frodo, in the Undying Lands. |
