Gollum/Smeagal. A truly sad story. He murdered his best friend(Deagol) to get the One Ring. Distorted and driven mad, he took to hiding in the caves of the Misty Mountains. For many centuries, the Ring extended his life, but tore his soul into shreds. Eventually the Ring was taken from him by Bilbo Baggins and he left the caves to find his "Precious". He joined Frodo and Sam along their quest to Mordor, and though he tried to redeem himself, he could not rid himself of the desire to get his Precious back. He betrayed Frodo and tried to kill him and Sam. He died in Mount Doom with his beloved Precious. |
