Airline Baggage
Regulations:
This is a combination of what is on Air Canada's webpage
and what is on the TSA webpage.
- Under new guidelines the TSA will visually inspect 50% of
all checked baggage. If your luggage is locked they will cut your
lock (and are not responsible for any damage they cause while doing
so). They recommend that you use zip-ties in place of locks.
- Checked baggage:
- You get two "free" pieces of luggage, but...
- Overall measurement of each bag bag must be less than
62"/158cm (that's length + width + height)
- Each bag must weigh less then 70lbs/45kg
- Should not be wrapped in security wire, cords, or any
other form of tie.
- One piece of sporting equipment (i.e. complete SCUBA
gear, golf clubs, skis, etc.) can be substituted for 1 bag. The
SCUBA stuff we are brining doesn't count and can just be packed with
the usual stuff.
- Carry-on baggage:
- NO sharp or bladed objects. This includes nail
files, nail clippers, scissors, bottle openers, pointy combs, etc.
- All electronics must have power so you can show that they
work.
- You are allowed 2 carry on pieces, but...
- each item has to weigh less then 10kg/22lbs
- one item must be smaller then 16x43x33cm,
- the second item must be smaller then 55x43x23cm
