After sending out the latest schedule I realized that I didn't put in all
(any?) of the important stuff:
1) We are heading out the evening of April 30. We're planning on leaving
at 5:00, so make sure you'll be off work on time. We'll probably have to
arrange to meet a certain places so we're not running all over the city to
pick up everyone. We'll work this detail out closer to the final date.
2) We'll drive to Revelstoke the first night. We'll either be checking into
Daniels Guest House ($17 per night), or a cheap motel. Check out Daniel's
page at:
http://www.revelstokecc.bc.ca/vacation/teasers/daniels-ts.htm
3) You MUST pack minimally, as cargo space is limited. We're sleeping inside
so all you need is a blanket or the fleece thing Deb made for us. If you
need a pillow bring a small one. You don't need a parka, dishes, foamie,
tent, dingy or any extra crap. Just a few changes of clothes, a towel, bathing
suit, some soap (please) and SCUBA stuff.
4) The Turtle Refugee Inn is $10/night, cash ONLY. So everyone needs to
bring $50-$60 in cash to cover this. Your down payment will not cover this.
Also, we need to check in by 8, so even though we'll be in revelstoke you'll
still need to get up early.
5) We are doing 3 dives per day, although you can sit one out if you so desire
(some people have decided to do this already). Some of the dives are planned,
but we still have some room for more dives. Here's what we got. Check out
the dive list on our webpage for a list of all shore dives I could find info
on.
Day 1: All at Ogden Breakwater, third dive will be a night dive.
Day 2: Henderson Point and The Mystery Wreak at Deep Cove. 3rd dive
= ?.
Day 3: Ten Mile Point (for the "experts)/Spring Bay (for the "newbies")
= one dive.
Second dive = ?, may not be a 3rd dive (depends on when we
need to return the gear)
In a freakish break of good luck we just happen to have planned our dive
trip for the new moon, which means the tides (and hence the currents) will
be at their lowest. Basically the moon and sun are pulling on the earth
in opposite directions, so we get wussy little tides (as it 5-10 feet, instead
of the normally 15-18 footers). Yeah!!!
6) For those of you who are night diving, remember to replace your batteries
with fresh ones. You'll also need a glow stick. Maybe we should buy the
sticks as a group?
7) Menu is planned. Simple, but tasty. But, you need to be prepared to
buy a few meals on the road (your pocket). These include the evening of
April 30th (bag dinner, as we'll be in a rush to get going), dinner on the
1st (ferry food, or maybe we should wait until the hostel and eat around
9?). We'll be doing the shopping on the island, except for the lunch stuff
we'll need for the drive out.
That's the "dope".
