Beth has gotten us a great quote on our crests (~$200, including S&H
amd GST). Group already approved money for us, so it looks like
a go.

The SCUBA trip, including rentals and fills, will be approximately
$440 per person. We are taking $125 per person from the group's
account, plus you've all paid $50 each so far. This leaves a
balance of
$265 per person left to cover. This can come from your personal
account
and from your pocket.

This is the SCUBA trip itinerary up to this point:
Saturday, June 15th
-leave Calgary
-drive to Hostel in Central BC (forgot the name)
Sunday
-leave early, catch 5 PM ferry to Victoria
-drive to camp bernard, check in
Monday
-Piddle around Victoria, pick up SCUBA equipment
Tues-Thurs (June 18-20)
-Dive, dive, dive
Friday
-short hike?
-leave vancouver island
Saturday
-drive to Kelowna or home (decide on-route)
Sunday
-Return to Calgary, if not already there

Advanced SCUBA training is still a go for May 31 - June 2. You have
until mid-april to decide if you're going to go. Maximum cost
will be
$300, INCLUDING food, camping, rentals and training.

This Saturday (March 23) afternoon we're going out to Camp Gardener
to do some service work. Plan is to leave ~11AM, although we're
waiting
to hear back from Garry on the exact time. After this we're planning
on
going to dinner, followed by laser tag, an we may follow that up with
another "cultural event". I'll book 7 places for laser tag, but
please
let me know if you're coming so I can adjust the booking as necessary.
If you cannot make it to Gardener you are more then welcome to join
us
later.

Just for your info - we've been doing camp host for eight years.
We
do an average of four per year, with an average of four people per
camp. Assuming we actually do 16 hours of work this means our
crew has
put in 2048 man-hours of labour at Gardener. That's equivalent
to one
person working full-time for 1 year, 4 days and 16 hours. If
we were
being paid minimum wage ($5.50) gardener would owe us $11, 264 (not
including over-time and holiday pay)!!!! That would pay for a
few SCUBA
trips.

We are moving the winter camp to either the first or second weekend
in April. Let me know ASAP if you'll be attending and which weekend
would be best for you. Current plan is ti ski or snow show into
Point
campground. This would only be a one-night trip (sat-sun).
Cost would
be ~$40, assuming a $20 rental and $20 for food and gas.

We would like to find one more person to go on the SCUBA trip. This
would reduce costs by ~10% and would give us an even number of people
for buddies. We're willing to invite outsiders, but we thought
we'd
give you insiders one last chance to join up. Please let me know ASAP
if
you'll be coming.
