COMMON SAILER

Scientific name: Neptis hylas Moore
Wings are black with two white bands made up of spots. Underside is chestnut. The body is brown and metallic green. Both sexes look alike.
Distribution and Habitat:
Commonly found in wooded and hilly country. Also ventures into human habitations.
This butterfly has a graceful sailing flight. It flies around effortlessly with wings spread flat. Flicks the wings occasionally during flight.
Feeds on flower nectar.
Host plant: Red Silk Cotton.
