WM 2007 Topics
- B1) SL 2007 shall compose of 10 teams in two 5 team division format with each team playing each other 18 times each.
-
Not sure that it's appropriate for a "rule," but can we discuss how we should not be gambling in any way, shape, or form regarding anything having to do with the Summer League?
-
A) 1 10-team division. 18 games against each opponent. 1st place meets 4th and 2nd meets 3rd in semifinals.
B) 2 5-team divisions. The two best records of non-division winners are the wild cards, regardless of division. Best record of wild card meets worst record of division winner, and worst record of wild card meets best record of division winner in semifinals.
B1) If we choose to have 2 divisions, we will Play 18 games against each opponent.
B2) If we choose to have 2 divisions, we will play 23 inter-divisional games and 14 intra-divisional games.
B3) If we choose to have 2 divisions, we will Play 21 games vs each team within your own division and either 16 or 15 outside of your division based upon the division draw.
Note: B beat A. B2 was determined to have no support during discussion, so I striked it. The specifics of B3's 15/16 determination are a part of an email from Ken that will be posted on the league site should this pass - Updated 12/15/2006, 12:12 PM CST

Amend the playoff rule that says a steal allowance of F can steal once per game to include a maximum of 3 per series.
OR:
Just change the rule for F's from a the once per game to the maximum of 3 per series, removing any attached per game limitations.
-
Definition of available players if necessary due to multiple injuries at
a position:
Player acquired cannot have a higher OPS than any SL starter at the same
position (based upon SL games started).
D rating cannot be higher than average rating. Average rating is:
C 7 +1
1B 3
2B 7
SS 8
3B 4
OF 2
J rating must be 0 1 or 2.
Acquired player cannot steal and player cannot be used as a hit and run
hitter/base runner.

Regarding 1-game playoff rules for relievers:
a. all relievers with G/IP left can use them, all other relievers can
pitch up to 2/3 of an inning
b. all J-0, J-1, J-2, and J-3s can play in the game. all players will
have available PA. J-4 pinch-hitting rule remains unchanged
-
If one team's final available reliever of a game gets injured or ejected, the opposing team can select which of the available starting pitchers can come in to replace the reliever for the remainder of the game (the previous rule had said only the starter from 2 days previous could come in to pitch).
Continuing with the rest of the rule passed at the 2002 WM, if the starting pitcher now pitching in relief also gets injured or ejected, the DH must come in to pitch for the remainder of the game.
-
If an injured pitcher is traded and he is to miss a start, a rotation-eligible FA starter must be picked up in his place
example: Beckett out for 25 games, traded to Chris, Chris cannot start 6th starter Matt Cain in his place, but he must pick up a free agent with 21 or more MLB starts.
OR:
An injured starting pitcher cannot be traded.
OR:
An injured player cannot be traded

The playoff seedings for both rounds are based on record, without regard to WC status or divisional alignment, with run differential as the tie-break.
-
allowing the #1 seed to still face the wild
card in the semis, even if the wild card is from the same division.
Note: According to Greg, we do this already. I wasn't thinking about that when I included this in the topics list, just copying his suggestion.
