HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Also, here's a picture of me training at the Rigging for Rescue seminar I attended in early October. In this picture, I'm practicing being the attendant (upper attendant position above the litter). I'm about 100-200 feet up. The entire seminar lasted seven days, 0800-2130 hours every day. The contractor is the same one that trains the Technical Rescue National Park Rangers at Yosemite, Denali, Zion, Grand Canyon, Rocky Mtn., etc., and it is also the same contracted training that military Special Forces goes through (Green Berets, A.F. PJ's, and SEALS). My class included two British guys who are with Rescue 3 in the UK, two Ft. Collins USAR fire fighters, and a guy from OMR (Olympic Mtn. Rescue) who works with the Coast Guard out on the West Coast near Seattle. The experience was gruelling, humbling, enlightening, and extraordinary. Hopefully, I can now transfer the same rescue skills to our local rescue team or anyone else interested in high angle technical rescues!
