Wednesday, May 17th, 2006: C.C. Sabathia Mesmerizes Kansas City with Masterful Shutout It was a long day at the plate for the Kansas City Royals. They never did figure out C.C. Sabathia. The Cleveland hurler baffled them the entire game, yielding no runs and only 3 hits in a very well-pitched outing. Sabathia also totaled 13 strikeouts and 2 bases on balls in the game. In 2006 Sabathia has churned out 7 wins and 3 losses in 10 game appearances. He has recorded an ERA of 2.43 and struck out 69 batters in 77.2 innings.
April 15th, 2006: Maroth No-Hits Indians! It was a day
that all pitchers dream about...a no-hitter. Mike
Maroth of the Detroit
Tigers was right on target against the Cleveland
Indians. He really zeroed in on them, holding them
hitless with 6 strikeouts and 3 bases on
balls. Maroth
said he just had it all today..."very good stuff and
great location...a combination that is hard to beat and
even harder to hit." He also had a little luck, too, as
a few balls bounced his way. A couple of fine defensive
plays also saved the day for
him.
April 12th, 2006: Swinging a Hot Bat, Hafner Has 6 Hits Against
Mariners Pitching It was a sensational day at
the plate for Travis
Hafner. The Cleveland
first baseman was pure misery for the Seattle
pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 6 hits
in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of
hitting. T.
Hafner singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off E.
Guardado in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the
3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 6th
and singled in the 8th. A look at his season
totals shows these current stats: 2 doubles, no triples,
1 homerun, and a .353 batting average. He has driven in
6 runs, scored 7 runs, and worked 3 bases on balls. Hafner
has also pilfered 0 bases.
April 10th, 2006: AL Trophy for
Best Player This Week Given to Sizemore of
Cleveland Cleveland
Indians left fielder Grady
Sizemore, at the top of his game all last week, was
a consensus choice today for American League Player of
the Week. He victimized AL pitchers for a .450 batting
average on 9 hits in 20 at bats, powered 3 balls into
the stands, scored 5 times, and drove in 6
runs.
