A sheet of white paper will be provided for this contest.

Draw you own postage stamp that recognizes something that can be found in our Solar System.

On the front print the title of your stamp and write "USA 39".

On the back of your stamp design attach the written portion of this contest.

The written work must answer the following:

Describe the chosen aspect of the Solar System (asteroid, comet, meteor, satellite, sun, moon or planet).

If your item is man made, what is it and why was it put in space, are there any space exploration projects going on right now?

bullet

If your item is a natural object or body, tell its relationship and location relative to the earth.

bullet

What are the physical features of the item?

bullet

What weather and temperatures does it experience?

bullet

What is length of its year and day?

bullet

Does it have an atmosphere?  What is it made of?

bullet

What is special about this part of our Solar System?

bullet

How and when was it discovered?

bullet

Why should your chosen aspect of the Solar System be honored on a stamp?

 

Please include your name, grade and teacher at the top of the paper. 

Your stamp design and written work are due by Friday, February 3, 2006.

Please give your entry to your teacher, and your teacher will forward it to the principal.
