Tommy's view
My name is Tommy, and if you want to know more about me, please check out my site. Disclaimer: the following does NOT necessarily reflect the opinions of KACP or any of its members.
I was asked to write a bit about the effects of child pornography from a kid's point of view. I guess I better make it clear that some of what I consider child pornography, others call "art" or "educational resources." That includes "cropped porn" because that was still produced at the expense of someone's childhood. It also includes thinly-disguised soft core cartoon child pornography where adults depict erotic acts between children. I get very annoyed when that is justified as a public service. My definition of child pornography also includes "nice" pictures from porn series that many "boy galleries" are made out of. I'm not an object to be worshipped, leered at, ogled or admired. I'm a person.
How did involvement in child pornography affect me? In several ways. First, it got me addicted to sex and pornography. Premature sexualization took the smile from my face and replaced any sense of wonder I might have had with skepticism of everything. No one needs sex, especially not a child, particularly not with adult coersion.
The pedophiles who make child pornography, and the perverts who make the demand for it, manipulate kids into giving up their innocence. They will not go unpunished. I believe that they will get the eternity in hell they deserve. Child pornography and child sexual abuse go together hand-in-hand. You rarely find one without the other. I trust God to take care of that for me. What keeps me going is my belief in a loving and just God who gave me this new family that protects me, even from myself.
Maybe I'm messed up for the rest of my life. Maybe not. A child shouldn't need to work hard to undo damage done by others, but I have to and I do. I see a therapist twice a week, and it's hard work.
Here are just a few other things child pornography has done to me:
I'm caustic, cynical and nearly impossible to live with most of the time.
Do you get the point? I hope so.
