Recipe: A series of step-by-step instructions for preparing ingredients
you forgot to buy, in utensils you don't own, to make a dish the dog
won't eat.


Fox Run Dog Biscuits
2 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup nonfat dry milk powder
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
6 Tbsp. margarine or oil
1 egg
2/3 cup cold water

Combine dry ingredients and mix well. Add the remaining ingredients and stir with a wooden spoon to form a stiff dough. Alternately, combine all ingredients in a food processor and process until dough forms.
Roll out to a thickness of about 1/2 inch; cut into dog bone shapes with dog bone cutters or into sticks about three inches long and 3/4 inch wide.
Bake on an ungreased baking sheet for 25 minutes in a 350 oven. Cool on a rack, then store in an airtight container. Yield: approximately 20 biscuits



A Simple Dog Biscuit
  For a happy but healthy dog or puppy.
 
Ingredients
  1/2 C Flour
  1/4 C Water
  1 lb Chuck roast
Directions
Mix water & flour together
Pre-heat stove to 400
Cut roast into small pieces
Roll roast into ball spread mixed flour & water over the balls
Place on pan at least 2in apart
.Put in oven 4 15-20m
Take out & let cool
.Serve


Dachshund's Noodle Jumble

2 cups of macaroni
2 cup of mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn, etc.)
3/4 to 1 lb. of meat (ground beef or chicken)
3 cups water
1 1/2 tbs. corn starch
2 tbs. olive oil
3 large cloves of garlic (pressed)

Add meat and water to pot and boil bring to boil. Let simmer for 15 minutes and strain off meat. Save 1 3/4 cups of boiled stock. Now add water and boil macaroni until it begins to feel soft. Add frozen vegetables and let sit in water for a couple of minutes. Strain noodles/vegetables and turn heat to medium. Dissolve corn starch in 1/4 cup of cold water. Add meat, noodles, vegetable, olive oil, garlic and stock to pot. Stir until mixture begins to bubble. Turn heat to medium low and stir in water/corn starch mixture. Stir on element for a few minutes until it thickens (add more corn starch mixture if contents are still thin). Remove from element and let it cool to room temperature.
Take 1 cup dry measuring cup and scoop out increments onto pieces of plastic wrap. Wrap up and freeze. We will usually thaw one out the night before and split it up into two servings (we add some kibble).
Makes approximately 6 servings.


Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits
(I've gotta figure a way to mix in some Jelly with these)
1 � cups water
� cup oil
2 eggs
3 tablespoons peanut butter
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
� cup cornmeal
� cup oats
Blend wet ingredients together. Whisk dry ingredients together and mix into wet mixture to form a ball of dough. Roll out and shape. Put onto a non-stick cookie tray or lightly greased one. Cook 20 minutes at 400 F. Turn off oven and allow the biscuits to cool in oven until crisp and hard. Store in airtight container.

15 Minute Liver Treats
1 lb chicken livers
1 cup flour
1 cup corn meal
1 Tablespoon garlic powder
1 Egg

Place chicken livers and liquid in blender, liquify. Add egg, mix a minute more. Pour into bowl. Add flour, corn meal and garlic powder. Mix. Spray jelly roll pan with pam. Pour mixture into pan. Bake 15 minutes in 400 degree hot oven. Cut into small squares while still warm. Keep in freezer to prevent spoilage.
My dogs love them frozen.

       Fido's Ranch Biscuits                                      
       1 package dry yeast
       2 cups  warm chicken or beef broth
     1/4 cup  margarine
       1 egg beaten
       2 cups all purpose flour
       1 cup  wheat germ
       4 cups whole wheat flour
     1/2 cups warm water
     1/2 cups  powdered milk
     1/4 cup honey
     1/4 teaspoon salt
       1 cup  cornmeal
       2 cups cracked wheat

In small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. In large bowl combine broth, powdered milk, margarine, honey, egg and salt. Add yeast/water  and mix well. Stir in flour, cornmeal, wheat germ and cracked wheat.     Mix well. Add whole wheat flour, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Knead in the final amounts of flour by hand and continue kneading for 4 or 5 minutes until dough is not sticky. Pat or roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness and cut into bone shapes. Place on a greased cookie sheet, cover lightly and let set for 20 minutes.   Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes. Turn off heat and leave in  oven several hours or over night. Makes approximately 3 1/2 pounds.   

Shelle's doggie biscuit

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup flour
1 cup skimmed milk powder
1/3 cup melted fat(beef, lamb, bacon)
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 cup cold water

In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat and all-purpose flours and mild powder. 
Drizzle with melted fat. 
Add egg and water and mix well. 
Gather dough into a ball.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/2 inch (1 cm) thickness. 
Cut into dog bone shape. 
Bake on ungreased baking sheets in 350F oven for 40 -50 min or until dark and crispy. 
Makes about 3 dozen dog biscuits.

Apple Cinnamon Training Bits
4 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
1 egg
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 small apple (grated)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/3 cups of water

In a bowl combine all ingredients except the apple and water.
Grate apple into mixture and add water.
Mix until it starts forming together. Turn out on a lightly floured surface. Knead well.
Roll out to a thickness of 1/4 - inch to 1/2 - inch.
Take a straight edge and score the dough horizontally then vertically to make a grid of 3/4 squares.
Be careful not to score the dough that it completely cuts through the dough.
Place on a baking sheet that has been sprayed with a nonstick spray.
Bake at 325 degrees F for 1 hour.

Liver Bow-wownies
2 lbs chicken livers
2 C corn meal
2 C wheat germ
2 eggs
2 1/2 tsp. granulated garlic (not salt)
1/2 C dried parsley
Liquefy livers in food processor, pour into mixing bowl and add other ingredients. Mix until smooth like a brownie batter. Spread on a cookie sheet (1/2 sheet cake size) (I use parchment paper to line the pan) until it's evenly spread about 1/3 inch thick. Bake at 350 F for about 35 minutes. When cool cut into squares, or whatever shapes you prefer. I keep them in a ziplock bag in the refrigerator.

Chicken Chips (for Fido)
2 cooked (boiled) chicken breasts
1 clove garlic
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup cornmeal

Puree chicken and garlic in a food processor or blender. Add in chicken broth. Transfer mixture to bowl and stir in remaining ingredients until it's not sticky anymore. Cut dough in half and shape each into a 1 1/2-inch diameter roll. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill thoroughly.

Slice into thin chips. Bake chips on lightly greased baking sheet at 350 degrees F for 25-40 minutes, turning halfway through baking time. Chips will harden as they cool.


Good Dog Biscuits

   1 3/4 c  Whole wheat flour
     1/2 c  Oatmeal
     1/2 c  Cornmeal
     1/4 c  Liver powder
       2 T  Brewer's yeast powder
     1/4 c  Bone meal powder
       3 T  Powdered milk
       2    Eggs, lightly beaten
       3 T  Wheat germ oil (you may
            Substitute bacon drippings
            Or vegetable oil).
     1/2 c  Water
 
   Preheat oven to 325. In a large bowl or in a food
   processor, combine the flour, oatmeal, cornmeal, liver
   powder, brewer's yeast, bone meal and powdered milk.
   Stir in the eggs, oil and water and mix thoroughly.
   The dough will be very stiff and dry. Remove the dough
   to a lightly floured surface or pastry cloth. Roll or
   pat it into a rectangle 1/4 to 1/2" thick. Cut into
   bone-shaped biscuits with a small knife, or use a
   cookie cutter. Reroll the leftover scraps of dough and
   reshape, until all the dough is used. Place on a
   lightly greased cookie sheet and bake for 40-50
   minutes until brown and dried through. Cool on a rack.
  
   Yield: about 12 large bones or 24 small bones.


Dog-Gone Good Snacks

3 1/2 oz Jar liver or beef baby food
1/3 cup Wheat germ
2/3 cup Non-fat dry milk
Mix all ingredients well.. Drop by the tablespoons onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 12-15 minutes. Cool. Store in the refrigerator.



Veggie D'lites
  1 1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons corn oil
2 cups whole wheat flour
  1 1/2 cups white flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
  1/2 cup celery, diced fine
  1/8 cup red bell peppers, diced fine
1/2 cup shredded carrots
1 clove minced garlic

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix water and oil. Add flour, cornmeal, vegetables and garlic. Knead dough for 2 to 3 minutes and roll into 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into 3- to 4-inch pieces. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
