Valentino
Rudolph Valentino's silent movie role in the Sheik of Araby, became his most famous character.
Years ago, when passing through the Palm Springs airport, I was mezmerized by the old movie still photo of Rudy. I quickly snapped a photo of his portrait that hung on the wall hoping it would turn out.
I knew that one day I would want to paint that magical character, using the same celluloid colors of
the original still.
This portrait was a study on monochromatic
painting for a water color class.
Since then I have done several others, but
still prefer painting Shar-pei instead |
