How I got into Amateur Radio:
I have always had an interest in Amateur (HAM) Radio,
however I never really pursued the hobby until recently.
I moved from Sydney Australia in 1998, to the Lafayette Louisiana area and a good friend of
mine, VK2TUL/K9VKG
Dave aka Yobbo aka Cactus Boy aka Slash lol; really got the credit
for peaking my interest in ham radio, we are both Aussies living in The States and we where mates for 14 years before we moved to America. K9VKG,
thought it would be a great way for us to keep in touch, plus it would
keep the phone bills down! So, off I go and
within the month, I had passed my Technician written. I'm now working on "the Code"...
Then I bought a house and everything was placed on the back burner to make time for HOUSE PAINTING,RESHINGLEING THE GARAGE ROOF,PUTTING IN A/C and Networking the house for Cable and Internet. ~ Welcome to home ownership is what my friends say.
I Have a 40 foot tower ready to go UP, after the ground thaws out; my reliable decible antenna will be mounted of the side of the tower which will give my IRLP Node some phenominal coverage.nbsp;
And I don't want to forget my neighbour E.J KD5SZN (SK), E.J was a C.B'er when Moses was still playing football for Jerusalem, when I moved behind him and we quickly became friends we both passed our Tech Exam the same session, and with E.J's help (being a Electronics Tech)studying for the General Class is a breeze. E.J Thank You.

radio to talk to the local repeater/radio and the voice is carried via the
internet to other nodes around the world. To Learn more
