Maiwae Collies
WHAT'S GOING ON AT MAIWAE COLLIES?
Holy Furry Dogs!

Somewhere in that pile of very happy puppy is Harold.  The newest arrival at the farm.  Harold is around 17-18 weeks old and is the most charasmatic fluffball you have ever met.  If he wasn't he wouldn't be at my house--this is going to be a very hairy Collie!  That's now a 50/50 split between the smooths and roughs in my house--a new record as I have never attempted two Rough Collies before.  It's all Brian and Amy and Pepi's fault--they shouldn't have bred such a lovely little guy.  I saw him as a baby and knew he was the one I would pick in a heartbeat.  Thanks especially to Amy for letting him come and live in Iowa - I know it was hard to let him go.

Now for a Jam update.  As many know Jam and I have hit some kind of roadblock to our obedience activities.  I had him entered in St Paul in rally excellent and as it was pointed out his brain left his body about 2 feet into the ring.   Bless his heart, that's Jam!  So I've backed up his training and have now entered him in an APDT rally trial along with a new to me obedience registry called Companion Dog Sports Program or CDSP.   So the same weekend we are going to try for our RL1 APDT rally title, we will be trying out  a new novice obedience looking for a CDSP CD-H title.  No long sits or dowsn, just an honor exercise, and the only off lead heeling is the figure 8.  It will be a lot of ring time which he needs--2 APDT and 2 CDSP trials for both Sat/Sun.  I see exhaustion in my future!

It's a non-dog weekend coming up.  For Jean's birthday I got us tickets to Celtic Women concert in St Paul.  It'll give us time to play with some shopping, a good dinner and I'm sure an outstanding concert.   The dogs are all staying home - which makes Jam pout, but he'll get over it.  He had to tolerate it this past weekend when I took Spice all alone to the Collie Club of MN show.  No points, but she did have a First Place in her class on Sat and got a beautiful blue rosette--love those pretty ribbons!

More later as time permits...
