Maiwae Collies
WHAT'S GOING ON AT MAIWAE COLLIES?
MONDAY, MONDAY

Another Monday...blech...

Okay, okay, the sun IS shining today and the sky IS blue and it IS rather beautiful outside.  Of course I'm inside.  In my cubicle, no window and facing the employee restrooms.  I don't know if I moved up the food chain here or down somedays.  My old cubicle had no window and I had to share it with the yardy cart that we put our papers into to be shredded.  Federal confidentiality laws prompted the usage of these large rubbermaid carts, much like you would see in my neighborhood that are used for lawn refuse.  So all day long people would be in and out dumping papers.  Now I get the near constant opening and closing of the bathroom doors, etc.  Oh well, such is the life in a medical office in middle management.  There are days I question my choice of jobs.  But after 25 years in the same field it seemed a little late to do much else.  We'll see if earning a BA in Healthcare administration does anything to my outlook both figuratively and literally.

I spent much of Sat. complaining to the dogs about my knee and hobbling around trying to do household chores.  Then I hobbled off to the second job for a few hours where everything is still done on paper.  No computer and to my horror an actual typewriter!  Oh well, it's the money that keeps the dogs fed, vetted and shown, I can suck it up for 10 hours a week.  After that I hobbled once again (and cursed a few times about how stupid it was to fall and hurt myself) to the library to some research.  Two more weeks to go in this class and a 1000 word paper due by the 26th.  Did I mention that my mind not only doesn't think in algebraic terms but also from a philosophical standpoint?  Give me a good old strategic planning meeting or even an unbalanced end of month report anyday over "What is the relationship between happiness and meaning?"  And I had forgotten how positively frightening reading Aldous Huxley's Brave New World was.  Or maybe it's the change in perspective from age 16 to 44.

Good things actually did happen this weekend between work and chores.  Spice now walks on a leash!  Secret Weapon: Hot Dogs, really cheap, disgusting, Lord knows what's in 'em, hot dogs.  Jam has discovered a way to control the vibration on the sit/stay for about 45 seconds.  I'm praying the dog we do the honor exercise for is speedy.  I might have a full minute and half on his sit/stay by Sat.  The down/stay is another story--I'm sort of praying on a sit and not a down.  Which means of course we will have a down/stay.

Off to obedience class tonight with Spice and Trace...I'm exhausted already!

Until next time...
