Snow.

Loads of it.  More than I have seen in one winter in Iowa for close to a decade.  Okay, I hate that, it makes me sound really OLD.  Fourteen and one half inches of the white stuff.  And wind, wind should never be forgotten, it makes the best drifts.

After work yesterday, yes, we never close at the oncology office, I went home, shoveled my way into the garage, shoveled thru drifts to the back door and shoveled more drifts out the front.  I'll discuss the unfortunate acrobatic display down the front stairs some other day.

The dogs really didn't know what to do with all the white stuff.  Spice is the puppy and she almost drowned in a mound of the stuff.  True to her nature, she popped right back out and continued on in search of heaven only knows what.  Dora took one look out the back door and turned around.  I had to shovel a space for her to potty on, her true "Diva" self emerged and she all but demanded it.

The low fence spots had to be dug out so no one made any trips up, over and out to wander.  While I was doing this I noticed Jam was having a fit, pacing in circles, whining and barking.  I finally had to go and shovel out a space for him too--he's turned into Mr. Fussy and decided he can't go potty in that much snow.  The old guys, Riley and Maddy needed some special care and so I trudged out to the back corner of the yard and cleaned out Ri's favorite potty spot.

It hit me later that night that I pretty much shoveled out about a quarter of the yard just for the dogs.  That's another sign of true dog owner dementia by the way.

We are off to the dog show this weekend in MN, more snow is expected and much colder temps too.  I've packed extra dog blankets and the long undies for the trip.  If Jam didn't need that one darn Rally Advanced leg and I wasn't suffering from dog show fever I'd rethink this trip north.

News from the weekend and show upon our return.  In the meantime I've attached a picture of Spice for your enjoyment.

Until next time...
