Maiwae Collies
WHAT'S GOING ON AT MAIWAE COLLIES?
WONDERFUL WEEKEND

It's Monday morning so I had to inject a little bright color into the blog today.  The sky here is gray and rain is threatening, but hey, it's not snow, right?  I had one of those truly awesome weekends where nothing major happened, my to-do list was decreased and the sun was shining.  I tell you, it doesn't get a whole lot better than that!  Three of the dogs had a vet visit at 8 a.m. on Sat.  Jam and Spice needed booster shots and Riley had a goopy eye.  Poor Jam, he thought we were going byebye to the park.  Most weekend mornings, other than in the winter, I load Jam and Dora up in the van and take them to the county park to run or walk the trails.  Jam was incredibly disappointed that he ended up in the vet's office instead!  He wouldn't stand on the scale, he acted like he was dying and spent the whole time whining of all things.  What a goober.  Too bad I love him so much huh?  Heehee...   Spice was excellent, other than being a fuzzy mule on the end of the leash, she sure does love everyone and everything.

Gotta tell a funny story on the vet though.  This is a new one for me and she apparently wasn't used to seeing Collie puppies with glued over ears.  She took one look at Spice and said, "Oh my, what is this?  She has some kind of dermatitis of the ear margin."  I tried not to fall over laughing as I explained about keeping Collie puppy ears glued or taped over for showing.  The gray goopy matter on the edge of Spice's ears is old glue!   I got the "show people" eye roll look and Spice gave her a kiss.  One of the funniest things I've heard in a long time...ear dermatitis...heeheheee....

Took the dogs home and then went on the great shopping expedition.  I love going as early as possible to avoid the crowds.  Am I the only one who does not understand the Walmart way of having 50 checkout lanes and 5 clerks?  Annoys me everytime I go in there.  I needed a new blow dryer as mine died a quick painless death on Thursday.  Of course I walked out of Walmart with everything EXCEPT the hair dryer.  Went out to Target on Sunday and did the same thing.  See what happens when I don't make a list?

The best part of the day was spending it in the yard, getting up the last of the winter poo, raking up the dead stuff including numerous de-stuffed toys and plastic bottles.  The kids love to play with empty soda bottles.  Something is coming up along the backside of the garage, I need to pick up some kind of fencing to keep the dogs out.  I don't put plants in the backyard for obvious reasons, but these and the hollyhocks from hell (another post this summer!) were there when I arrived.  Then I spread a whole bag of grass seed.  I worry about getting bare spots with as small as the yard is. The dogs "helped" by running around, jumping in my piles of grass and leaves and barking at who the heck knows what, I haven't figured out what makes some of these idiots bark.  Yea, but they are my idiots and I love them.  Riley got irritated because he had to take his nap outside instead of on the sofa.  After spending the late morning and most of the afternoon outside, the dogs went in to take a nap and I went to the used bookstore.  One of my favorite places.  I spent over an hour searching through books and came home with another stack to read.

On Sunday I took my aunt to the new George Clooney movie.  It was a fun movie, not the best ever, but hey it had George Clooney in it--how bad could it be?  Then off to dinner.  When I got home after dog chores Dave and I spent way too much time chatting on the phone about dogs and showing and breeding.  Yep, it was just a good weekend all the way around.

Until next time...
