Summer Season Pet Safety Tips
Summer is the season of the year when most people look to unwind and relax. Many choose to go on vacation during this time of year, while others enjoy staying at home and enjoying the warm weather. Summer season, as fun as it may sound, is also a time when pet owners need to take extra precautions for their pets.

In practice as a psychotherapist and certified bereavement
counselor since 1979, and have a diplomate in the APA,
specializing in the areas of loss, grief and bereavement.
The loss of a companion animal can be devastating to the
human survivor.  I feel that traditional counseling is not yet
enlightened about the human-animal bond and too easily
characterizes the bereaved as suffering from some "deeper
pathological" issues.  My approach sees grieving as healthy
and necessary.  I validate and affirm the need to grieve, as
each individual deems appropriate.  My private practice
(in Manhattan and Queens) offers bereavement counseling
for individuals, couples, families, and groups.  Needless to say,
my companion animals have been my best teachers!

Naomi Taicher, MSW, CSW, Certified Psychoanalyst
498 West End Avenue, Suite 1D
New York City, NY  10024
Phone: (212) 787-1932
A certified social worker and psychoanalyst with over 22 years
of experience helping people with a wide range of life issues
including coping with the illness and death of a beloved
companion animal.  I have a deep love for animals and a
belief in the powerful healing emotional bond that can exist
between humans and their animal companions.
When faced with the loss of a beloved animal friend, a
professional counselor who is sensitive to this unique bond
can provide emotional support and help bereaved individuals
to mourn and work through their grief in an accepting,
non-judgmental environment.
