August 1998 Menard CC Cycle Training
Joeri and I love to show off our stuff.  We often work at the Menard Correctional Center and at one time, had the priviledge to demonstrate and train the staff their on the use of dogs, how to safely work around the dogs and let them see how Joeri works.
First, Joeri is alerting on the locker where 5 grams of marijuana had been hidden about 30 minutes prior to this.  It shows the staff what they should be looking for and how Joeri is a positive alert dog. Here, we are starting the bite work portion of the demo and Joeri is already locked in on the decoy, Joe Durham.
And here you see, the decoy has made the move and gotten bit.  Joeri bites and holds until commanded to release.
Here, Joeri is out on a sit and bark, bark and hold, style guard action.  He should sit, bark and not bite unless the decoy makes an aggressive move or tries to get away.
Joeri also does an escort, where he barks at a bad guy and convinces him not to run away when we move him from one spot to another.
Joeri is still holding onto the decoy's arm, waiting for me to give the command to let go.
