We LOVE the Big Cats of the wild.
They are all amazing creatures and we have tried to learn as much as we can about them.
Knowledge is power, so we are hoping that you will learn something new about these magnificent creatures, and perhaps help save the ones which have become otherwise extinct.
We have links to places all over, but we reccomend visiting
Care2.com.

The Lynx is a nocturnal hunter that ambushes it's prey.
Like most big cats, the Lynx is a fierce animal, they are solitary animals who inhabits the forests of Europe, North America and the Soviet Union.

The Lynx is from the "Felidae" family, and it's Genus and Species is that of the "Felis Lynx".

The sizes may vary from 2-3 feet in length, the males being larger than the females.
The shoulder height is 2ft, the tail usually 2-6 inches.
Sexual maturity is about one year.

The coat of the Lynx varies in color from pale, to a sandy grey, to a rusty color of red.
It's thin summer coat has faint spots, the winter coat is mych denser and has a frosty gray color.

The Lynx's feet are large and round and padded underneath to help it travel over deep snow.
The ears have long fur tufts inside that help it to be able to hear.

The closely related species is the bobcat, the Lynx has a diet which usually consists  of birds, rabbits, foxes and deer.
The Chetah is a powerful cat, without question one of the fastest cats known to man.
The Cheetah can reach speeds up to 60 mph, and can accelerate to top speed in just three seconds.
The Cheetah can be found in parts of Western, Eastern, and Southern South Africa.

It is from the family "Felidae" and it's Genus/Species is that of the "Acinonyx Jubatus".

The Cheetah has excellent eyesight which enables it to spot distant prey and follow it with a pinpoint accuracy and precision before racing at top speed for the kill.

The shoulder blades lie on the sides of the body, which allows the forelegs greater freedom when stretching out at full pace.
The spinal column is very flexible so that during the chase, the Cheetah arches and springs back like a bow, allowing the big cat to make extra giant strides.

The Cheetah's claws interestingly enough never fully retract, therefore they have an added grip that most of the Big Cats do not have.

The coat provides camoflage for this daytime hunter. It actually breaks up the outline among tall grass.
The tail helps to balance this wonder cat as it twists and turns at very high speeds.
