Richmond Review

So I saw Chris in Richmond last night--amazing. Janet somebody (never quite caught her last name) and the Mystics opened. They were pretty good- they sounded somewhat country. However, everyone in the audience seemed pretty dead during their set. This was a seated show-- so people were actually sitting.
When chris came on stage he was wearing a purple velvet suit with gold things all over it. It was the one of the ugliest suits I have ever seen, but he somehow managed to make it look incredible! He opened with Wandering and I thought I was going to burst with all the energy inside. I remind you that this was a seated event and people were not big on standing. So when I jumped up when he first came in (I was in the front row) some people yelled at me to sit down. I wanted to dance and it was killing me... after 3 songs (I think) Chris told the audience to please stand. So I was standing against the stage (wonderful view!!). The show was spectacular. He told the same stories I had heard before, but hey that didn't matter... it is Chris telling them. He did play a song that is on the surfrider benefit album
. The songs he played were pretty much the same mix that he usually plays...a little from each album. At the end of the show during Bonnie B, he did his normal thing and ran up to the balcony and grabbed a girl... while he was gone about 10 women jumped on the stage... I noticed that he ignored the ones that were not invited on stage... and near the very end of the song he pulled me on stage and held my hand up during his bow... I also got the guitar put on me (not his) oh. and Roly told me I could keep his guitar when I tried to give it back...he said its yours take it home- however, a guitar tech or roadie came and took it- that was okay, because I had no idea what i would do with it.... very exciting.. I was so glad my friend had my camera so she took some shots but who knows if they turn out. I stood in line to get the set list autographed- I had asked one of the people cleaning up the stage if I could have it. So when Chris signed my setlist and cd cover he said you finally got to get up and dance. He signed the set list with his name and then my name and 1st row! underlined. SO that was my night. I spent the next few hours in a state of shock. He is an amazing performer and Chris and Silvertone remain the best live act I have ever seen!
So I hope everyone who still have shows to attend this summer have an experience as incredible as I did-- or even better!!!
