Central Park Summerstage, NY NY

Just wanted to say that Chris is an amazingly gracious celebrity! The show was amazing, his voice was in top shape, he wore his purple sequined suit and his mirrored suit for the encore, made some of his usual jokes, and said that the show would get much more dirty and wind up in the gutter - "filth for filth's sake!" It was a beautiful day - mid-70's, sunny and breezy. It was dark by the time the encores started - they went back on stage twice. The second encore was really long - as Chris said, "The park is supposed to close at a certain time, but until a policeman shows up, we're going to keep playing. Anyway, in this town, I think that Herschel's fez has more authority than a policeman's cap!"

FYI, for "Bonnie Bee," there were only two young, casually dressed women who danced on the stage right and kept to their own. Chris pulled a young girl on stage, and then a boy popped on the stage, doing a little dance. Chris was laughing and smiling at the kid, and then pointed at him, "This is for the ladies!"

Anyway, after the show, he was at the side of the stage at the merch table signing autographs for about 15 minutes. He probably only got to sign 50 autographs and the line had about 50 people left! I lurked around after the handlers said that Chris would not sign anymore autographs and moved gates around the section leading to the merch table and actually joined hands around the table so people could get by. "You got ten extra minutes of encore, so the signing is over!" But Chris wouldn't disappoint the rest of the crowd that was waiting to meet him. He just moved past the security guys and moved the gate over and walked into the main section of the floor. The yellow shirted security guys then circled him. Chris would pull the fans to him and had his tour manager snap the pictures with their cameras. Some girls behind me were talking about how they were upset that they didn't bring their camera. He was talking to a girl saying how it was so nice to see her and thanks for coming and putting his arm around her for a picture. The girls in back of me said, "If he put his arm around me I think I would pass out!"
