Salt Lake City, Utah - December 6, 1998 - Kingsbury Hall

Let me begin with how I found out about the concert. You see the radio stations do NOT play Chris here, with the exception of Wicked Game. So I was going to the store with my mom, and while driving along, I was scanning the radio (don't like to listen to commercials). So I was about ready to turn it when I recognized the opening of WG. So I stopped to glory in the seldom played Wonder Boy. Well it was only about 10 seconds of it, and while reaching down to turn it and saying to good ole mom, "they never play him here" The DJ came on and said, "announcing CHRIS ISAAK at KINGSBURY HALL, December 6, 1998!" Well lets just say I almost wrecked the car. I was screaming and yelling "ITS ABOUT TIME"
FAST FORWARD two months..... The CONCERT!!!!!!!!!
I had never been to a concert at all-- let alone a CI&S one. So I was feeling quite high. Well we got there early, about 40 minutes early, and we found our seats. What I failed to do was bring any money. So I was bummed about not being able to get any merchandise. But I was cool-- after all I never thought CHRIS would come back here. So while waiting I talked to my mom and sister. They aren't CI&S fans, but I didn't have anyone to go with. So we waited.
JUDE was the opening act. The lady behind my thought he was CHRIS. I set her straight. JUDE was ok. I was more interested in his GUITAR player then his music. And it seemed like he was singing forever. Finally about 45 minutes later, he was done.
After a 20 minute stage change and me sweating it out. CHRIS and the BOYS came out. They started with WANDERING. Every time I hear that song..... I go back to my first concert. Anyway they did a few of the faster ones from SOTD, like I'm not sleepy and PLEASE. Then he talked to us. I had fairly good seats, eighth row Roly side. But I was not in them long. The only songs I remember were-- Somebody's Crying, BDABBT, all of the songs from SOTD were played (I believe). I was in a haze and don't remember much of what was played.
While SILVERTONE played SUPER MAGIC 2000 --- Chris went back and changed from the PURPLE VELVET into the MIRRORS. When he came out I just about fainted away, the way the light plays with the MIRRORS. What a MAN!! They played 6 more songs. And then he announced to us that he would be signing autos in the lobby and to come talk to him. "We love you come back soon" was shouted out to him, and CHRIS replied--baby we will.
They ended up playing for 2 hours and 20 minutes I believe. The jokes were hilarious, and I couldn't help laughing. Like I said I didn't stay in my seat much of the time. But going down right in front of CHRIS and to the side (where the security couldn't see me). I was in heaven. Chris winked at me while I was "DANCIN" in front of him. I was prepared for that to be my CI adventure. Little did I know.
Since I didn't bring any money, my mom and sister raced to the store for some. I waited in line. I was so nervous, the only thing I had to get signed was my ticket stub. But I figured it was enough, better that than nothing. I was the last person, ready to put my ticket on the table. When my sister races up and hands me the money. I quickly bought a T-shirt and laid it on the table. While starring into his eyes, any coherent thought left my mind. I was simply starring. But he signed his name and did that cartoon of his face. Then out of no where my mom leans in and says "She's your biggest fan" Chris looks up at me... smiles. (that just about was my undoing) And says "you are" I turned to my mom and said "SHHHHHHHH" Chris said in his comedic voice "Ah mom your embarrassing me" Looking again right at me, said "What's your name?" I said EMILY. He asked how I spell it. I said "e e e m i l y" He smiled again and wrote my name over his heart on the T-shirt. Then drew a heart around it. Then drew an angel's halo on his head and winked at me.
I was soooooooooo happy. But then my sister said can she get a picture with you. He replied "sure" and came over.
I know a good thing when I see it. So when he put his arm around me.... I slid my arm down his back and grabbed on to his side. He said "Go ahead Emily touch my body." So I did what the man wanted and held on tighter. He too squeezed me tighter and it is a nice shot. Then he said "Thanks for coming" and my sister said one more. So he came back put his arm around me and I was grinning like an idiot. But both pictures of that night are amazing. You see I was snapping pictures right and left all night. But either I was shaking or CHRIS was dancing...some of them are blurry. But WHAT A NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was so happy with my concert that I figured -- I get to do this every couple of years. Well life has a way of changing and I saw him 3 months later. CHRIS ISAAK AND SILVERTONE are way too good. They are nice and gracious, and show you a GREAT time for your money. Money that I will always find if CI&S are on the menu.
