Boise, Idaho Concert Review
Posted by IdahoGal
Here's my review of the Boise show. I had a front row seat, off center on Hershel's side. It wasn't a very full house. I wish more people had been there. I enjoyed the opening act "Jude". It was very acoustic with only a bassist backing him. His voice was good with heartfelt lyrics and he had a very unassuming style.
Well the CI & S performance was exactly like many others had described here and more. I loved it!
The security guards were very cool. After a few songs Chris invited everyone up near the stage and we got to stay there and dance for the rest of the show. I was right up against the stage with my fingers resting on the edge of the stage. But I had to keep moving them so they wouldn't get stepped on by Chris and the boys. I can't believe I was that close! I did reach up once and lightly touch the hem of his purple velvet pants. Ooooh baby!
The guys looked and sounded great. The stories he told were pretty much the same as others have described here. Last night Chris said the puppies were in the back of the tour bus and if some of the young ladies wanted to see them he said they would have to keep the lights in the bus off because of the newborn puppies sensitive eyes. LOL!
Chris made a comment to one of the enthusiastic girls in the audience because she kept screaming a lot. He said "are you going to scream everytime I say something", then he joked "I'm going to move over by Hershel so I can't hear you as much." Just like Ocean Blue said in her review, some girl jumped up on stage and tried to maul Chris. He looked very annoyed and irritated. She was quickly removed. I'm glad he went back to the song after he sang "Wine, Wine, Wine".
During one of the songs I made eye contact with Kenney and smiled, and waved, and said, "Hi Kenney!" He winked back. Later during the last song "Bonnie Bee" he looked right at me and motioned for me to come on stage. I looked at him and said "me?" He nodded. I said "I can't", the stage was too high to climb up. One of the stage crew guys saw what was happeing and came over an pulled me on stage. I went over behind the drum set right by Kenney and danced there. (Well, if you can call it dancing. I'm a very shy person and I was very nervous to be up on stage) Kenney handed me a drumstick so I could help him drum. I hit the cymbals a few times. (Did you see me Ocean Blue? I was the blond, wearing black pants and a silvery top) I saw the very tall, beautiful, good dancer girl dancing with Roly. I also saw him talking with her after the show.
After the show I got one of the stage crew to give me a copy of the set list. I was waiting in the Chris autograph line when I saw Roly. I went up to him and had him sign the set list. He was very quiet and nice.
Kenney came out later and I asked him to sign the drumstick he had given me. He was so friendly and down-to-earth. I met another BHer "Jen B", she was also talking to Kenney. Chris was finishing up signing autographs and was posing for a pic with Jen B and her friend. Doug (Chris's manager, I think) was taking the photo. I handed him my camera and he motioned Chris over. I said something about the drumstick from Kenney and he joked something like "Yea, I saw you up there drumming and I heard the beat change." He was very friendly, sweet, and kind. He put his arm around me for the pic (so I followed the advice of what someone else here on the BH said when they posed for a pic), I put my arm around his waist and held on tight. What a great guy. I hope the pic turns out OK.
After the pic, a few people were still getting some autographs, so I set my T-shirt, hat, set list, CD cover, and ticket on the table. I turned around for a moment because I was talking to Jen B and when I turned around again, Chris had vanished. I think his manager quickly whisked him away. I was soooo bummed. I'm sure they thought I had already gotten an autograph, because I know Chris will stay and sign everything for everyone who wants it. It was my own fault but it was hard to think clearly after everything that had happened.
I had a great CI & Silvertone experience but I really wanted a Chris autograph. Oh well, I'll just have to go to another show. Hopefully he will be back in Boise someday. All in all it was everything I had hoped for and more. CI & S are the BEST!!!!
