Dr. Blues' Konocti Review - Friday

Posted by Dr. Blue

Wow!! is all I can say for both nights at Konocti!!!! What a blast I had!! Theres still a grin on my face from laughing, dancing, screaming and having fun with my table guests The Amazon Ladies!! These are some very cool ladies!!! *more on them later*

This is by far the best I have seen Chris and the guys perform! However, I have only been to 4 shows.

Finally, after a long pretty drive we arrive at Konocti where I have never been before. I was warned that it was a very old Resort and that the accommodations were not that good so I was keeping my expectations low. We arrive at around 4:30 or so and check in. There was a slight drizzle of rain but that quickly subsided. For those who have never seen or been to Konocti, it's tucked down in a canyon of sorts and of course near the waters edge of Clear Lake. Very pretty setting but again needing a bit of an update.

We find our suite, which was a Vista Sun suite and were quite surprised by it's facelift it had had just prior to our staying there. A Jacuzzi on the balcony, a small kitchen with all the amenities, so very cool and clean. (my biggest pet peeve).

We head on down to the main lodge. I should tell you that the rooms are pretty spread out and you have to walk some steep roads and pathways to get around. This however, can prove challenging after having a few too many!!! *lol* We actually were pretty centrally located and I loved being near the spa facilitates which I took advantage of. Sean gives wonderful massages for people with car accident injuries, so if you ever go, ask for him. Sorry!!!! I'm getting to Chris I promise!!!!!

So off to the bar we go to have a martini or two or three before dinner. What a cool bartender we had. He made our evening with his naughty jokes that made even me blush and stories of owning a working horse ranch on 160 acres nearby. He made the best martinis too. I never spotted any BH'ers, but then again I don't know what anyone looks like so off to the show we go. The energy levels are up and the atmosphere of the concert goers is pretty good. We avoided the rush to the buffet dinner and stayed happily in the bar with tales of the horseman/bartender/breeder of thoroughbred race horses and excellent martini maker who happened to be named Chris. Oh! nice coincidence, till the very last minute and grabbed a quick dinner before the concert started.

We find our table up against the stage and on the Brett and Roly side and met the ladies sitting at our table. The Amazon Ladies!!!! COOL LADIES!!!!! These ladies are truly Amazon Ladies. I am only 5'-1" and the shortest of these ladies, who stood almost my height, was one of the daughters of the Amazons who was all of 10 years old and a Chris Isaak veteran. Kissed by Chris, danced with Chris, handed the guitar to hold by Chris and only 10 YEARS OLD!!! Man was I envious and the sweetest most polite little girl. I suspect this is a largely due to her mothers wonderful guidance. We all introduced ourselves and the BH comes up in conversation. They ask who I post as and I tell them, I think they were shocked!!!! We had a good laugh about that! Also, one of the daughters, who btw is only 17, stood 6'-4" in heels and unaware of just how pretty she is, needless to say she and the rest towered over me and were very helpful to me while in the autograph line, they looked out for me as I was getting pinned and squashed by the rude and anxious autograph seekers and always made sure I was put before them! Gotta love these ladies!

The announcer introduces Eric Martin and his band to the stage and he is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! I can't say enough nice things about him and his band!!!!! We fell in love with the music. The crowd needed some loosening up and he provided, but only for those really ready to have some fun! We noticed that the crowd was a good mix of old and young but far more woman to men!!!!! No big surprise there!!!!!!!!! He has a website and for those who want it just let me know and I will post it. The Eric Martin Band only played 45 minutes but I was so into it and just couldn't sit still in my seat. Luckily behind us there were plenty of people DANCIN' in the aisles and really getting into it bringing the energy levels up!!!!

Finally, the music changes and you can feel the anticipation for Chris and the guys to take to the stage. They looked mighty rested and ready to play. I don't remember the set list I'm too in the moment, however, they did play a few I had not heard at the other venues I had been to. *Sidenote* I wrote to Kenney Dale Johnson before the concert sneakily trying to throw in a request for Blue Darlin' and or Sweet Leilani because after all it WAS my birthday *lol* yeah right! never thought they would play BOTH songs. The audience was loving it!!! and so was I!!!!

Somehow, one of the Amazon ladies noticed Herschels fly was unzipped, and trying to spare him embarrassment, wrote on a large piece of paper (where that came from I'm still trying to figure out) YOUR FLY IS OPEN! or something to that affect. Chris see's it, walks over to our table and lets Hersch know, and the rest of the whole audience that he has a bit of a problem. The crowd is busting up and Hersch zips himself up and didn't really skip a bit, but Chris didn't let up!!!! But Herschel was great about it and just kept on going!!!! He was laughing a bit but still had a bit of a poker face!!! Funny moment!

Chris played Dark Moon which I had never heard and I loved it! Very pretty song and a nice departure from hearing the same songs exactly like the other venues! I'm not sure what song he was playing when out from the aisles steps "THE MIRROR DRESS WOMAN". I will say she was in great shape to be wearing that tight dress and was having fun with it! She looked great and the Mirror dress was done very well!!!!! It's not my sort of thing but she was having fun and was invited onstage by Chris. What a ham she was!!!!! grabbing Chris and doing a Madonna like pose after the song was over. Again, not my sort of thing but people seemed to enjoy the light show on her and I spoke to her afterwards while talking with Eric Martin and she seemed to be no HOOCHIE mama!!! Thank god, those woman start to get old after awhile!!!!! Also, the bellydancer made her typical appearance but this seems to be an awkward moment as she slithers out of nowhere stage left, Roly and Brett side. She needs to get better at doing the belly dancin' thing, that seemed to be the unanimous opinion from all around the table. No offense Bellydancer, just an opinion here!!!

Herschel is left onstage to do his awesome solo!!!! (he really is a talented addition) I'm a bit out of sequence but I'm real tired from a long weekend so please forgive me here. They come back out and mess with Hershel and his guitar as they are all surrounded by him. Kenney pulls out his sticks and starts to jamm on Herschels guitar, pretty cool watching these guys and they seemed to be having a real good time. Is it just me or has anyone picked up on the funny quirky smirk Chris gets on his face while they do this to Hersch? It's as if theres an inside joke and only they know about it which is probably the truth!!! *lol*

Whoa!!! I didn't realize how long this is I apologize and hope for little flaming!!!!!

*huge sigh of contentment* It was another BLAST at a C/I and Silvertone concert. If you want me to post Saturdays review I will but I won't unless you ask I never know how to edit my story so they get really long winded!!!

Off to sit in the Jacuzzi and another night of C/I!!!! Wooooooohooooooooo baby!!!!!!

Ok The Doc is out and again if you want me to post and don't mind that I'm long winded, I will post the review for Saturday which btw, was a far better show and MORE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dream on!!!
