Concert review

First, let me just say, "WAAAAAAAA!" You know how you look so forward to something and then once it's over you feel sort of let down? I'm not alone? Good. That makes me feel a little better.
Next, let me tell you a little about myself. I'm 29ish, married, 3 kids and a stay at home worker...;-) Hazel is not my real name but my eye color(oh, I thought real long and hard on that one :) THE DAY- Bought a new outfit, got ready, dropped the kids off at the sitters, had dinner, blah, blah, blah. Now to the good stuff...
The auditorium was really nice and not too big. My husband and I sat on the Hershal side, not on the floor but in the section of seats off to the side. We both liked the seats but it would have been nice to get sprinkled with some of that sweat I've heard so much about ;-)...We had a pretty sedate crowd around us, though the 5 or 6 ladies behind us (ages late 30's to early 50's) made me laugh quite a bit with there funny comments about Chris. You could hear them moaning and groaning every once in a while and swooning in their seats...normal behavior for women at a CI concert I believe. I was pleasantly surprised that there was no opening band! Yeah! I wanted to hear CI&S and that's what I got which was OK by me. I loved all the different colored lighting they had.
It made a nice backdrop for the music. Chris wore a purple, velvety, sequined suit, black shirt underneath and then only changed into the mirrored suit later(He did take off both jackets though, during the concert. I have to say, and my husband agreed, that Chris sounds just as good live as he does on tape. I don't remember which song it was but he held the note so long! It gave me chills and I grabbed my husbands knee and squeezed hard(much to his delight ;-)...I only have 4 cassettes of CI's(I know, I'm so out of date)they are:HSW,FB,BS,and SOTD. Now, I know I might get a little flamed for this but here goes...I didn't really like SOTD. (ouch! That rock hurt!)The other 3 I have I listened to constantly for months but that one I played it for about a week or two and then set it aside for the others. The reason I mention this is that I got to hear some of his older music for the first time and I loved it!
Especially Bonnie Bee, Diddly Diddly Daddy(?) and some others that I have no clue as to what the names were. Oh, the Blue Hotel was one. That was nice. My favorite is Somebodys Cryin and I'm glad they played it.
I had to laugh when Chris made his way out into the audience. People grabbed at him and for some reason I didn't think they would do that. And of course, when the Goldiggers came on, we couldn't resist laughing a little. There was this redhead...I know, those of you who went know who I'm talking about. I just cannot resist writing a little something about her. I'll try not to be too mean ;-) Nice looking girl, tall, short black skirt, tight top with major cleavage hinting...nothing wrong with that. The thing that was funny to me and my husband was that not only did she have really long reddish-orange hair but her skin was the same color!
Hold on, I need a minute to dry my eyes. OK. Now, there were, I forget how many dancers, 5-6 maybe, none did anything out of the ordinary. One girl wearing a purple jacket and black pants was dancing cute, Chris said something to her but I can't remember what and the audience laughed, but then Red moved a little closer and Chris stopped and did the "Whoa" thing. I believe he said something about her moving too much of her body and to just "move like this" and he did a little hip gyration(?) Loved that! My husband got a kick out of the belly dancer. She was fine but I agree with the post below, a little work needed but very gutsy of her to go out and do that on stage. It was a nice touch for the men in the audience who were there at the concert for their wives.
One thing that surprised me was how young some of the girls were. Kenny was talking to two, they each had a drum stick that he signed for them, and you could see these 17? year olds teasing and flirting with him and it just seemed a little odd to me. I think it's great that CI&S have fan's of all ages, but these girls seemed just a little too young to be...well, you get the idea. Enough preaching.
I think they played for almost two hours and then we sat in our seats while everyone filed out.
My husband got in the autograph line while I went and bought a poster. It actually moved pretty fast after the first 20 minutes...;) and Doug and this girl were moving everyone pretty quickly. Oh, a quick note to the Old Broad if she's reading this...Doug looked a little stressed out. I definitly think you should go see him at the next concert, give him a little lovin'...anyhow...they had about 10 of us lined up along the tables, we set our stuff down and Chris worked his way up and down signing stuff. He was hurried but if you said something to him he took the time to say something back and this is what I thought was so great, he actually looked you right in the eyes when you talked to him or when he said something to you. My husband noticed this too. Oh, and his eyes looked gray to me, maybe it was the lighting. And he looks really good for 42. Not that that's old, heck, my husbands 40, but he seemed younger. Must be from all that hopping around he did on stage. He sighned my poster and I asked if he could put my kids names on it and he did, even spelled them right, and I thanked him for the concert and he said thanks for comming.
We walked outside and stood there for a bit. Oh, while in line, I got Kenny and Roly to sign poster too. Kenny didn't impress me but Roly was very nice and we talked just for a second. Told him it was my first concert and he asked how I liked it and so on. When we were outside Bret was talking to some girls and I didn't want to interupt. Could have but didn't feel like it. I had a bad migrane(?) and just wanted to go home.
But my husband talked me in to going back inside for a picture. I know, I know, my HUSBAND had to talk ME into staying for a picture with Chris. Lucky me huh. It didn't take very long and they moved the tables and Doug brings Chris over to us for a picture. It happened so quick! He was walking over to me, I handed my husband the camera and both Chris and Doug asked if my husband wanted to be in the picture. He said no so Chris put his arm around me and said, "come here, let me get you closer" or words to that effect. I was just relishing his soft cheek against mine I didn't even care what he was saying. Like the others who have reviewed and posted, it was nice that he gives you a nice squeeze and brings you in close to him. My husband even thanked him and Chris said thanks for staying so long after to get a picture. What a lovely man...big sigh here...He did look a little tired when he said bye but nice all the same.
I'd love to go see him again soon but this will probably be it unless he comes back to Sac. or Tahoe. Sorry for any misspellings and if this was too long. Not as exciting as some of the reviews but for my first concert it will make a nice memory. BYE!
