Waikiki Review

WAIKIKI: Local comedian Bo Irvine opened for Chris all three nights. He was pretty funny. Some good local humor. A local radio station gave away a surfboard with CI's autograph and drawing on it. A German tourist won it. It's odd seeing CI&S in a ballroom. The room was so wide. Must have been at least 15 tables across. Even though I was at a front row table I was way off to Roly's side. Chris was so close, yet so far. When he came out the crowd went wild. He was getting "lei'd" left and right! The Boys were in their black suits, but wore aloha shirts. Nice touch. CI mentioned this was the first time they were playing in Hawaii. But not the first time the band was there since they surfed from island to island and that was the intro to "Didley Daddy". The audience was lapping up his jokes & stories. You definitely heard a few "oooh gross" for the Summer's Eve one. I was snapping pictures trying to get a good shot of the suit. I want a shot of the back of it. But Chris is always moving around, I hope at least one comes out.

When CI ran out into the audience, the crowd went beserk. He stood on a chair and people were just rushing around him trying to get pictures and kisses. For Bonnie B CI pulled up a little girl. She was petrified. She didn't know what to do. Chris kept telling her to just dance. She wouldn't move. She kept motioning for someone to join her. Even when some other girls got up on stage she was quite still.

The autograph line was not organized at all. You just tried to get yourself up front. I had to stand in line twice. I know, I'm an autograph hog. But I had so much stuff to get signed! I saw Kenney and went up to him. He's very nice. He asks everyone what their name is and then repeats it while he's signing your stuff or talking to you. I love that. After I got him to sign a couple of things I went to Chris' line for the 2nd time. Then I went back to Kenney for a pic. I got a great big bear hug. Whatta guy.

Then Chris comes out from behind the tables for photos. The people were really nice not being too pushy. I asked Doug if he would snap a pic. Chris puts one arm around me and holds one arm straight out. He says, "paparazzi shot!" So I finally got a pic with the Man himself without a table between us! Yippeeeee.

I was so wound up I went to the bar to get a drink and try to calm down. I get my drink and look up and see Kenney, Roly, Hershel, & Brett hanging out there too. The drink didn't help much. I was up 'til 2:30am (which was 4:30 for my body)!
