HAWAII SHOWS!!

Posted by Phyll

Aloha! From the beautiful Big Island! I had a blast here. The shows were great, as usual. Really brief...

WAIKIKI: Held in a ballroom, about 225 tables with 10 to a table. Just about a sold out crowd. They had 200 tables at first and added more. The room was really wide so folks off to the side must not have seen well. I was off on Roly's side, beyond him, right in front of the speakers. The crowd was very mixed, but very appreciative. I was so happy cuz CI wore my favorite suit!! We need a name for it. "Surfing"? "Golden Gate Bridge"? "Marquees"? "Pictures"? "Chris Isaak"? But I LOVE that suit and was waiting for him to wear it at the previous concerts I attended. That was the sign that the show was gonna be good. There were alot of folks who knew what to expect, tho. Right after Wicked Game they started running up. I ran up too. Security sent us back after a while. I hope my pics come out. The disco ball was hilarious. Talk about a light show. I got your pic signed Betty. But he's so fast before I could say "on the mat..." he signed on the picture itself. Sorry. I hung around and got a pic with CI later. The Boys were hanging out in the bar later, but shy me didn't want to disturb them.

MAUI: A much more laid back crowd. The Castle Theatre is beautiful, very plush. It holds 1200. Very intimate. I had 4th row on Hershel's side. CI wore the purple suit. They stuck to the set list that night. A good show but not with all the 'umph'. My cousin reminded me "not to embarass" him. Who me? Shy me? :o) The girl next to me was seeing CI for the first time. I was kinda filling her in on stuff. I told her we were gonna rush up after "Wicked Game". My cousin said I could go right ahead and he'd just stay in his seat. Security sent us back again after a while. But the girl had fun. Got more autographs. They now have boxer shorts and an 'event' tee. The front is the CD cover and the back has Waikiki, Maui, Kona, Kelseyville, and Sacramento listed.

KONA: I was in the lobby when the band's bus pulled up. Said 'HI' to Roly. Chris looked very dapper in a light grey/bluish suit. I met up with Pat and we had dinner. Went to stand in line a bit before 7 and there were already people there! This show rocked! The crowd was totally in to the show. There was so much energy from the Boys and the crowd. It was great! Seating was general admission, probably no more than 800 people. (It was a sold out show.) Pat and I got 2nd row in front of Hershel. Once again CI wore my favorite suit!! How wonderful, started and ended Hawaii with my fave suit. *sigh* I told her we got to go up after Wicked Game and planned out route to climb over some folks. Well, I ran up. I had a semi "Sister Christian" moment! I made them go off the set list. Pat wasn't behind me, in fact nobody was. There were 3 people in front of Roly that moved into the center aisle and the 2 Samoan guards were trying to get them back to their seats. I kept looking around for someone else, Pat..., to come up. So I'm all by myself looking stupid. The security guy didn't chase me away. So Chris stops and says let's play something romantic. They play "Return To Me"!!! Sister Christian, I didn't get pulled up on the stage like you but CI and I did sing to each other. Well, ok, he sang I just lip synched (sp?). I kept turning around to Pat waving her to come up but she didn't. It was a cool moment. During the instrumental part he stood right above me. It was a very low stage too. I was baptised. After he finished he said 'I dig you'. 'I dig you too,' I yelled back. Then they went into "Go Walking Down There". As I was going back to my seat a guy said go back and he'll take my pic. So I went back and stood in front of Chris while the guy took my pic. I think CI might have done something because the audience started to laugh. I'll have to see it in my pic. Hope it comes out! Sister Christian, I kept thinking about you while this was going on. Too cool..... Pat and I tried to do some 'stalking' after the show. We're not very good at it.

I got set lists for all 3 shows. I'll post later. I said this was gonna be brief?? Oh boy... Do you want to hear more? I could go into details. If so, I'll post when I return home tomorrow. This whole trip has been an adventure from trying to get out of L.A. Darn American Airlines. Should be better going back home.

Aloha everyone! This has been a great experience. This is the first time I "followed" anybody anywhere. (Vegas doesn't count, that's not really a trip) I had a blast, met some wonderful folks, and have some great memories I'll treasure forever.

See ya! -phyll-
