Brief Commentary (Well, Maybe Not So Brief!)
Posted by Anjanette
I wanted to give a brief rundown on my latest Chris Isaak experience. A good friend of mine knew that I couldn't afford tickets to his show on December 10th at the Mercer Arena in Seattle, so she convinced her honey (with some type of music connections - I'm not sure on the details) to score me some tickets. I invited one of my closest friends and another Chris Isaak addict.
The day of the concert we hung out downtown, had lunch, shopped for Christmas presents and of course talked about Chris. During our browsing we met a saleslady and the subject of our concert tickets came up. When she found out we were going to see Chris she did the traditional deep sigh, knee wobbling, head tilt, glassy-eyed look thing (it's just the way Chris affects women I guess!) I asked my friend if this ever happened to her... "Is it just me, or do you also get these warped and unrealistic ideas that this is the show that Chris is going to spot you in the audience, come to his senses and make you his girl, then after the show feel like a real geek, have a good laugh and go on enjoying the music?" She laughed and nodded. It made me feel better. I don't question my sanity so much now! We get there way too early and just walk around Seattle Center.
We ended up finding a big silver bus. I almost stopped breathing. Not wanting to risk getting kicked out of the area and missing the show, we left the bus and most likely a resting Chris be.
So there we are at the show. The women to the right of my friend smells of bourbon and keeps heckling the opening act. I thought he was sweet and just as soon as Chris gave the signal, we dashed down to stand near the stage. I maneuvered us in closer and closer throughout the show. As usual, Chris was dazzling and wonderful. I danced, screamed and had a great time.
After the show (and for the very first time in the 10+ years that I've been a fan) I stood in line for an autograph. I bought a poster earlier that day and brought a my "Speak of the Devil" CD. Chris was so generous and I noticed how he made eye contact with every fan. When it was my turn, he asked my name (which is Anjanette). He asked if he could just call me Louie (ugh! My new nickname now!!!) and ended up signing "Anjanette my pet." I just about fainted. He was close enough that I could've run my hands through his hair (But it did look kind of sticky with hair stuff and a night's worth of sweat!)
So here we are, a week later and I'm still in my "post-Chris-concert-depression" (laugh) I sent e-mail to my concert-going friend and she confirmed that she feels the same way (another heavy sigh!)
It feels good to know that I am not the only wild fan. I've enjoyed reading most of the postings so far and look forward to reading more, and corresponding with other Isaak Addicts!
