We got to Tahoe on Friday afternoon, and it wasn't long before we started running into people we knew. We also ran into Roly, who was getting his boots shined. We talked to him for a little while, mostly about his paintings. We then went back up to the room, and started to get ready for the show....
I decided to wear a black skirt, a white oxford, green scarf, and the now-famous black knee-high boots. We went out to eat, and then went to the show.
We were at the front table, in front on Roly/Brett. Thre was no opening act, and they started right at 9:30.
Chris wore that purple, "hi, I'm a pimp" suit, and the band wore all black. Our table was the only table in the entire place making noise, and we made A LOT of noise, lol. Chris brought up that thing where if we think he has gone too far(with his stories), we should yell out a "safe" word, and that word is "Rumpelstileskin", and he will stop.(this will come into play later!)
Since Brett was directly in front of us, we kept yelling his name, and screaming everytime he had any kind of solo. Midway through the show, Chris stopped and said something like, "what is the deal with my piano player?" We just kept yelling, and Chris said, "you don't want to get involved with him...." He kept going on about ropes and rope burn and stuff, I didn't catch it all, but while he was going on and on, I yelled out, "Rumplestileskin!!" Chris stops, and says something about making sure I can't leave the hotel, and about how he will have band members posted at the airport, train station, etc. and then he asked, "Do you think you can walk over that mountain?" I nodded, and he said, "no, you can't...these guitar's double as snow shoes, ya know." LOL. At one point Chris walked over, gave Brett his guitar, and started to play the keyboards...it was so funny!
Anyway, they did "Dark Moon" which was way cool. Otherwise, the set was pretty much the same as it has been. They started "Bonny B" and Chris went out into the crowd as he usually does. As soon as he left, Roly came over and pulled me up on stage. Some other folks from our table came up, and two or three people from the other side of the stage, but no one would dance in the middle of the stage, lol. Chris came up, and started singing again, and then, at the first break, stopped and looked at me and said, "Hey, you in the boots! Come here, darlin', Come on sweetheart.." I walked over, and he put his arm around me and said, "Sweetie, now you don't have to move your whole body around, you're gonna wear yourself out...here, let me show you, honey" At this point, Chris begins to gyrate, and so, I just did the same! Chris then grabbed my shoulder and said, "okay, good night everyone!!" And then went back into Bonny B.
As they finished Bonny B, Roly put his bass around me, but managed to hit me in the head in the process, LOL. He asked if I was okay, and then said, "well, now you will remember this moment for at least a week, lol" (but it didn't even leave a mark! lol!!) However, when the roadie went to take the bass off, he hit me again, lol.
Anyway, after the show, we hung out a bit, and then I took an embroidered Ceasar's towel up to get signed. Chris looked at it and said, "You want me to sign a towel??" I said yeah, and he drew a heart and put his initials in it. I said, "hey, you ripped me off!" and Chris said, "I owe ya, and I'll pay ya back..." Soon after, he came out for pics, and I took pics of a few people. People kept giving me their camera to take pics, it was weird. Anyway, Chris looked at me and said, "Do you want a picture?" I said sure, and he stood next to me and stood on his tip-toes(my boots have high heels), so I scrunched down and he put his other arm around me. The pic is okay, I look bad, but I finally got a pic with Chris where we are both smiling! LOL.
Anyway, we then went to one of the bars in the casino, and pretty much stayed there the rest of the night. The band was there almost all night too, all except Kenney, and Chris, who was with his mom all night, but would stop by every once in a while and wave at us. Roly hung out more than anyone else, but every once in a while Hershel and Brett would sit down too. It was fun, although we were up until 4:30 or so, lol.
Saturday was cool. We ran into Chris in the hotel during the day, but didn't really talk to him. The show was cool, especially sice it was a different set that the night before. Chris wore my favorite suit (the blue one with silver starbursts) And this time we were at a front table in front of Hershel. The concert had less talking, but great songs!! He sang "Blue Darlin'" and "Two Hearts". I could not have been happier.
Afterward, I was supposed to meet my brother in the bar, (he drove up from Reno), so I did not stay to get a pic. I got the pic of Chris and I dancing the night before (I love 1 hour photo!) signed, and he put "Baby I dig it" on there, lol. I thanked him for the shows, and said that it was my last show for a long long time. He asked why, and so I told him about Japan. He asked what city, and I said either Tokyo or Osaka. He thought for a second, and then said, "Tokyo is nice". Then he asked "How is your Japanese?" I said it was non-existent, and he then asked if I knew how to day "I'm Sorry" I said no, and so he said "I'm Sorry" in Japanese (don't ask me how to spell it!) He said it again, and I repeated it, and he said it was perfect. Then he said that I was going to need to know how to say "I'm sorry I don't speak Japanese" because, people were gonna speak Japanese to me. I said okay and then left.
Roly signed my postcard, "good Luck in Japan" and Hershel mentioned that Chris was dying to tour there.
At the bar, the band came in and out, and I talked to Brett for a few minutes. It turns out that he is from Denver, so we bonded on the whole Broncos thing. (WAHOO!!)
Later that night, Doug (tour manager) Sheryl (manager) and Hershel were sitting at a table, and by this time my brother was there, so I went to change so that we could drive to Reno. When I came back, Chris was at the table too. We had a short exchange, and then we left.
The weekend was topped off perfectly when The BRONCOS beat the Jets to go to the SUPER BOWL BAYBEE!!!!!
