12-18-98 LA show

All right this post is going to be a bit goofy. I am still kind of in a CI induced blur. But here is my review of the first Los Angeles concert.

I met Jeryl, Her hubby, Emberly, Phyllis and Phyllis's friend Paula at Musso and Frank's for dinner before the show then we all made our way down to the theater. On my way into the theater I got caught with my camera and had to take it back to my car :-( . Anyway, I went into the theater where I got Simone a green shirt with the Oriental type writing on the front which will be in the mail to her tomorrow.

Now on to the all important actual review part. Jude was all right not what you usually to be like. A little too quiet for me. When Chris finally came on stage he was wearing this amazing purple velvet suit with rhinestones in an interesting pattern all over the jacket and also on the bottom parts of the legs. The rhinestones caught almost as much of the light as the famous mirror suit but they don't reflect the lights they just caught it and made all sorts of lovely little sparkly rainbows on Chris. The guys were wearing charcoal colored suits with black tee-shirts. The set went as follows.

Wandering
I'm not Sleepy
Please
Flyin'
Speak of the Devil
Somebody's Cryin
Wicked Game
Go Walkin' Down There
Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing
Forever Blue
Black Flowers
Put Out Your Hand
Diddley Daddy

ENCORE
Super Magic 2000
BLUE HOTEL

ENCORE #2 Don't Get So Down On Yourself
Only the Lonely
San Francisco Days
Bonnie Bee

Chris told some RAUNCHY stories. Since I was laughing too hard I really can't remember the gist of the stories right now you'll have to hope someone else remembers. There was of course the Herschel razzing. During Bonnie Bee Chris (already in the mirror suit) came up to the balcony (where I was sitting) and ran around there for a bit. I was really missing my camera right then.

When the show was over I went through the autograph line and got my tee-shirt and photograph signed. I asked Chris if he would sign the photo with a silver pen I had gotten (because the photo is dark) but he had already signed it. He laughed and cracked a joke about being too quick for me and how most women complain about that. I just laughed and said something along the line of "yeah that can be a problem". He put a halo around his head on my tee- shirt and added a heart with an arrow through it and '98 written on the inside of it. I asked him if he would pose for a picture with me (To be taken by a friend with their camera. I got stopped by the most over zealous security guard there) he said he was going to take pics after he finished signing stuff. So, I waited.

While waiting I got my pic taken with Roly and had him sign my shirt he used my back as a table and made a crack about the sticky properties of velvet to which I could just giggle. Finally Chris came out for pictures and I, using Jeryl's camera, got a shot of the Mirror twins. Then she using her camera managed to get a picture of me with him. I was sooooo happy because just after he took the pic with me he left. I don't think he was in a hurry I think one of his manager type people was rushing him out because the management of the Pantages was getting ready to close the theater for the night.

So that's it for my second Chris Isaak concert experience and despite not having my camera to play shutter bug again it was great. I can't wait till I get to go again which will hopefully be Ventura.
