Tuesday SD show
Posted by Betty-Lou
I drive down to SD around 4pm. Traffic was pretty light up until Del Mar, but I made it on time.
I was seated for dinner and I noticed a lady next to me wearing a CI shirt sitting by herself. I struck up a conversation, as its stupid eating dinner in a fancy restaurant alone. She invited me to sit with her and we talked the whole dinner through of CI. (Hi Barbara!)
Went over to the concert after and come to find out I was front row and Roly's side. I flipped out. I've never been front row. It was awesome!
Barbara came over and said hi, she was two rows behind me. Venice opened again, and then out came Chris in this outfit that made me go ga-ga. It was like a tapestry type of material, with shimmery purple velvet and it had in silver Celtic crosses all over it. I wish I could have gotten a picture of it, but again security was all over the place, and I had seen them kick people out who had taken photos. I didn't want to miss anything so I left it be. This is a great suit for him. If I can find the material, or something like it, I might make a dress to wear for the next concert.
The girls rushed the stage again after Wicked Game and nearly squashed the security guy who was such a wimp. I got up and stood to the far left of the stage. I had a good view, but I couldn't see Brett at all. I saw KDJ eyeball me a few times. The show had more energy this night. CI even said it himself. "For all you who were here last night, you might have noticed it was a bit slow, but as I get to sleep all day tommorrow we are going to party tonight!" And that we did.
Towards the end of his 2nd encore he started bringing girls onstage. He did The Hip Shake song, and I thought maybe he was changing the ending so I strolled over to the autograph line only to see that he did SFD and then ended with Bonnie Bee.
Barbara and I waited in line. I had brought one of my pictures I had taken of him at HOB to sign and I bought a CD for my friend in Colorado whom I converted over to CI. Chris ran right passed us and then I got to the table and put my stuff down. He signed everything and then looks up right at me and asks how I'm doing. I say fine and nearly swoon at those blue eyes. I think if I hadn't had a personal picture he probably would have moved on with out saying anything. I was excited. The pic has him holding a little stuffed animal and as he walks away he laughs and says "Look at me with that toy" I laugh too.
I've been teaching horse camp the past few weeks and have talked of nothing else than Chris Isaak. One of the boys in my group says that his dad went to college with CI. I freaked. I had a girl last week who says her dad worked on his videos. I was like this is too cool.
So as I'm standing in the line, after he signs my stuff, I ask him if he knows the boys dad and he stops what he's doing and says jokingly "Is he out of jail yet?" I laugh and say yeah I was shocked that he knew this person. Kids say things all the time so I didn't quite believe till then.
I forgot to ask about the girls dad, but I'll ask next time.
I then drove home and passed out dreaming of CI all night.
It was a really good two days and I hope he will play in LA before he goes to Australia like I'm hearing he's going to do.
Bye for now and I'll try and check in more often.
It was good to see all the fellow BH'rs.
