Ventura Theatre Review

Posted by Bertha Bingo

Went to the Ventura Theatre for the CI show.

The theatre itself was an old reconverted opera house. Sort of decom w/gold. Acoustics were alright. Fold up seats sucked, but at least you could reposition your seat a bit.

Band played tight. The music was cool. The only thing I didn't like was the last three or four songs they changed the sound system and Chris' voice echoed like a church effect. Too weird!

Chris had on that blue velvet suit that everyone talks so much about. He looked great! Rowland looked tired. Hershey looked good. Kenney was the bees knees.

Chris' stories have gotten so gross lately. I think I have more respect for him now than ever before! In fact, my seat was toward the back and I saw at least 3 people get so grossed out after the hairy mole story they fled for the bathroom. How funny.

The venue people didn't want to let anyone get on stage at first. But toward the end they loosened up a little.

There were more drunk obnoxious people sitting by me this time than the last show I was at. I guess the drunk part is not so bad, it's just the LOUD thing. Hard to hear, you know what I mean? The only payback is knowing that they'd be drivin' the porceline bus in the end. Karma...

The people (security) at the venue need to be given a copy of Miss Manners. They were telling everyone that unless they bought something, they couldn't get an autograph. Talk about mean spirited!

But I-man still signed anything people put in front of him. There was this guy at the autograph table next to me with his daughter. She was adorable. He had her propped up on the table and Isaak spent some time chatting with them. He had this really sweet cherubic smile on his face looking at the little one. Girls, I think he's gonna make a good dad someday.

To the extreme right corner they had some photographers. Maybe it was for promo, not local paper. Well, I think so because they were taking an awful lot of pics. But then again, they had good subject matter, right?

I didn't really notice KDJ or RS after the gig, so I think the must have split right after.

Chris' hair was a little more 50's than in the past. it looked darker I think. A good look either way for him.

Hope everyone that went enjoyed themselves. I did.

Bertha
