"I'm glad the critics like me," Chris Isaak told Elle magazine. "But sometimes I think I'd like to have a huge disco hit, so that everybody would know who I am and the critics would hate me." No such luck for Isaak, whose third album, "Heart Shaped World," offered more of his understated romantic anguish. One of the album's tracks, "Wicked Game," was used in "The Preppie Murder," a made-for-TV movie. "It's a haunting little piece," he said of the song. "It's my favorite on the record."

Isaak caught a little flak during his tour for asking girls from the audience to dance onstage. "What, do they think I'm going to ask a guy up to dance? I mean, they're nuts!" he said in his defense, adding that he's not sexist. "My mom would slap me around if I was."
