Love was in the air Monday at the Santa Monica, Calif. Pier during the video shoot for Chris Isaak's new single, "Please." The crooning Casanova and his co-star Bai Ling, the Chinese actress who played Richard Gere's lawyer in MGM's Red Corner, hit it off. "In this line of work you meet people for a moment, but I'm feeling like Bai and I are soulmates," Isaak said. "My idea of a perfect day would be laying on the beach while she sings 'Smoke Gets In Your Eyes' and I eat a big bag of Corn Nuts." Ling, who hadn't heard Isaak's music before being cast, says the feeling is mutual. She gushed, "He is very handsome and has a beautiful voice. Between takes, we talk about everything and he sings me all these great songs." Many of the serenades can be found on his Sept. 22 Reprise release, Speak Of The Devil, which was produced by Isaak, Eric Jacobsen and Rob Cavallo.

Beyond Fall U.S. and European tours, Isaak will also be seen on the silver screen early next year as a cop in Shepherd. After suggesting the pair run away from showbiz to open a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco, Isaak admitted the encounter is probably another wicked game. "Today things are great, but tomorrow her career will take off and she'll be in movie after movie until she meets some wealthy producer. I'll look like yesterday's toast."

Look for a full Chris Isaak feature on myLAUNCH in the coming weeks.
