Swing dancing - that finger popping pastime of the 30's and 40's - is sweeping the nation again, it's infectious spirit refected in movies (Blast From the Past), music (Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, the Grammy-winning Brian Setzer Orchestra) and ads (the Gap kids kickin' to Louis Prima's Jump, Jive An' Wail). In halls and clubs, zoot-suited hepcats and their peppy partners, from neo-swingers in their 20s to grandparents, are doing the Lindy Hop, jitterbug and myriad variations. Swing societies and dance clubs keep fans informed via Web sites such as jitterbuzz.com, run by Frank Morra and Carole Berghers.

Their top spots for stepping out in two-tone shoes:
The Red Jacket, Dallas Super for style spotting, this club draws "a high percentage of lounge people," says Morra - "those who dress (in authentic vintage styles) but don't dance." The big swing night here is Thursday, when Johnny Reno and the Lounge Kings pack the small, sunken dance floor.
