Hello Everybody:

I hope this finds all well in your neck of the woods.  I love afternoon nap times.  It gives me a nice hour to catch up and do chores, etc.  If Im lucky, I get a nap too.  Emma doesnt always nap, but she just fell asleep watching Clifford during her quiet time.  On the other hand, Tate is a great nap-er and takes 3-4 hour naps every day.  What a life!

Today, I decided to do my journal update. I feel like I havent heard from many of you in ages and visa versa.  Summer is finally here.  Bring on the warm weather!  Seattle temperatures are very mild.  We usually have temps in the mid-70s with a cool breeze.  Its a little warmer today, which was perfect for the water park.  We have a water park across from the city library.  We had a picnic lunch and then the kids just went crazy running in all the fun water obstacles.  Emma exclaimed, Its summer!  I guess we had a pretty rough start with summer more rain and clouds than usual.

This has been a great summer so far.  We started the season off with a trip to Whistler, BC Memorial day weekend with Keiths family.  We had a great time and enjoyed the variety of activities.  We played in snow and went swimming all in one day.  Whistler has gondolas that go up to the glaciers and they ski year round, I believe.  They also had lots of mountain bikers going up the gondola as the bottom of the mountain had many bike trails and jumps, etc.  The scenery was majestic.  It was a mix of Tahoe and Yosemite.  We took lots of pictures.

In June, we took a trip to San Jose to visit my parents which also included a trip to San Diego (Imperial Beach) for a family reunion with my siblings and their families.  What a blast.  There were 17 adults and 17 children under the age of 10!  Emma still talks about the condo and wants to go back and hang out with her cousins.  Tate turned two, so we had a big family BBQ with balloons and streamers and lots of cousins to help open presents.  We enjoyed a trip to the San Diego zoo my personal favorite.  Also, we took a trip into Old Town and stopped in at the Mormon Battalion museum.  Apparently, my grandparents had been directors there.

Since weve been home, weve enjoyed park days twice a week with friends and going to the farm to pick up produce.  Emma and Tate love to chase the ducks and wake up the pig.  I get to bring home fresh flowers every week, too.  Ive been able to experiment with new veggies, like fennel and fava beans, but nothing tops fresh carrots!  Yum.  I also enjoy not having to pick any weeds.

Thats all for now.

Have a great week!!!

Love,

Catherine and Family
